Acer Aspire V Nitro Black Edition VN7-792G-74Q4 Notebook Review

Full speed with Nitro. Acer's successful Nitro lineup is being upgraded to Skylake. The manufacturer again manages to leave the rivals behind thanks to a well-conceived total package.

classy design, screen's brightness and contrast, IPS panel, performance, input devices

no maintenance hatches, screen's color noise

The manufacturer almost seamlessly connects to the success of the tried line with the latest update and can even add to that. In addition to the performance technical features, some small aspects have been polished. The keyboard has improved...

Acer Aspire V 17 Nitro VN7-792G-55SF Notebook Review

(Quad)Core values. High-end is great, but not always required: even when equipped with a Core i5 CPU and a GeForc 945M GPU, the Acer Aspire VN7-792G offers solid performance for a price that's more than fair. The display isn't too shabby, either.

quality of chassis is very decent, superb input devices, USB Typ-C, high contrast IPS display with great viewing angles, good application and gaming performance, low emissions, outstanding price-to-value ratio

complicated to maintain/upgrade, power adapter not large enough, battery is integrated, display response is slow

Overall we can only recommend the Aspire Nitro - and not just our review notebook VN7-792G-55SF.

Acer Aspire V17 VN7-792G review – the 17-inch “Black Edition” multimedia laptop

Acer did a great job with their 17-inch Nitro Black Edition. It gets the same looks and slender body as the smaller versions, but performs smoother under load, runs cooler and can be paired with excellent screen options. Most models are also...

looks nice and it's well built; decent keyboard and trackpad; splendid 4K screen on this model; solid performance; runs cool; punchy speakers; the 1080P versions are competitively priced

difficult to upgrade; poor battery life; the 4K screen configurations are expensive

In conclusion, the Acer Aspire V17 Nitro VN7-792G checks many of the right boxes. It’s built well and looks really good, sleeker than most of its rivals. It also gets a splendid display, it offers the performance expected from such a device and runs...

Rock solid mid-level gaming laptop

I also bought a Logitech G602 wireless gaming mouse and it pairs nicely with this laptop. I've always been a huge fan of gaming desktops and never cared much for gaming laptops, but this laptop has defiantly changed my mind.

The first thing I did was upgrade the RAM from 16 to 32GB and installed a Samsung 850 Pro SSD. After the upgrade I can't say enough good things about this laptop. It does everything I ask and more. Plays BF4, CS GO and CSS with ease on high settings....

No SSD - the hard drive it comes with is very slow and pretty much kills the entire experience. SSD or m.2 drive upgrade is a must! Upgrading the RAM was not easy, as I had to disassemble the entire laptop in order to access the RAM or m.2 slot.

Great machine @ a great price

What prompted me to buy a new laptop: I have been looking for a new laptop for the last few months and knew that I needed something powerful enough to run a plethora of 3D software including Sketchup, 3D Max, Revit, Lumion, and of course the Adobe...

None.

so far so great!

I saw this laptop had just been posted on Newegg at $950, no reviews... Glad I snagged it, as the price is now up to $1100! Yay me. The included hard drive is slow AF. I was having doubts about the system on the first couple of boots. I ran Prime95 and...

With an SSD, this thing is blazing fast!

Keyboard must be removed to access the HDD... Main board must be removed to access the RAM, m.2 slot, and battery (if it should ever need to be replaced).

Screaming Fast After Upgrades

I tried to upgrade it once, but it started acting up, so got the warranty work done and had them re-install the upgrades while they were at it. It cost me $90 for install at the M*********r near me. Overall, still a great laptop that really excels when...

This is an awesome buy at this price. Had to swap out the slow spinning HD (5400 rpm) for an M.2 drive (Samsung 950 512 GB), dropped in more memory (32 GB total), and this thing is a beast. Instant wake-up, instant log-in. Runs multiple VMs without...

Like others have said, upgrades are not fun on this laptop. It can be done, but take your time doing it or you could damage it. People are complaining about the mousepad, but I use a wireless mouse for that reason, so not really a con for me.

Fantastic Specs ruined by the worst touchpad ever made and terribly located M.2 slot

The technical specs for the money are a good deal, however, this laptop is unusable without external keyboard/mouse, see cons.

First off to add a M.2 card is borderline insanity in this day and age. You have to disassemble the entire machine to a point where you can remove the motherboard to flip it over to get to the M.2 slot. Your stomach will churn as you trust flimsy...

Love this laptop!

My last laptop was an Alienware, never thought i could get much better than that but this laptop blows my old one way in every aspect. I'm an Acer customer for life, nearly top of the line specs while remaining incredibly affordable.

I've had this machine for around 4 months now and I absolutely love it. I'm a programmer by day, gamer by night and it handles anything I can throw at it. It is a beautifully designed laptop, light, incredibly fast and have had no issues with the...

I can't argue that the machine gets a bit warm while gaming but it does not seem to affect performance in any way. The power button and delete key could have been positioned better but I rarely go without my external keyboard so not a big deal to me at...

Another Acer Winner

This is one of the best laptops I have owned. I have had very good luck with Acer laptops and notebooks over the years and this is another great one.

Fast, beautiful screen, latest technology, feels great with the rubberized exterior, nice thin screen, looks great

I cannot find a thunderbolt cord that works with the thunderbolt slot on this unit.
