Decent specs but poorly constructed

Capable machine for something so small if you upgrade the ram to two gigs and uninstall all the junk it comes with

Very poor construction quality. I have not had this all that long, and I take care of my stuff. The SD card slot fails constantly so I need an SD-USB stick. The power cable is close to useless. You have to hold it in with one hand to supply power.

Wireless problems from the start

I had another brand net top for 2 years before this one; it was superior in every category, including battery life, screen resolution, keyboard comfort, and reliability (until the motherboard died after 2 years).

none

Wireless adapter drops the connection about every 2 minutes. Over-the-phone tech help was rushed, obtuse, confusing, and useless. It is so annoying to have a computer that doesn't work properly when brand new, and to have poor tech help. Still can't...

ASUS 1001P-PU17-BK

At first this netbook was slow as molasses running uphill in Winter. Even with a dual-core CPU. I got all the bloatware off (including Trend Micro) and ran System Mechanic Pro on it to optimize the drive and registry. When first running it, RAM usage...

*Matte/textured finish. *dual-core. *Built-in Wifi has ad-hoc support *Pre-partitioned 250 GB HD

*Only 1 GB RAM (easily upgradeable to 2 for about $30-40) *Windows 7 Starter *It's rather slow to begin with *Max res: 1024x600 (knew that beforehand, though)

works great so far. has two operating modes one instant start for pictures and things like skype. the other is windows 7 starter. upgraded with patriot 2gb ram works just fine. plastic case feels more durable than I expected.

The power adaptor seems a little light duty.

Very good buy!

Very good for work, and some play. It won't play any modern games, as it lacks a graphics accelerator, however, It will go all day long without a recharge.

I'm a college student, and I was tired of taking a full sized laptop to class every day, so here is what stands out for me. - Very light, about the weight of a book. - Incredible battery life, over 6hrs of web browsing and Microsoft Word use on wifi. -...

It did come with a little bloatware, but I had my own copy of windows 7 pro which I installed. If you expect you're going to have lots applications open (such as office) and browse the web, as well as maybe listen to music or watch videos, buy the...

Nice looking and light. Was a gift for my to wife who is new too computers and it seems she is enjoying it.

Not really a con.....first on had a bad install of windows so I had to RMA it.Didn't like the beginning of the conversation with the guy about the lap-top asking me what was wrong was fine until the word repair came out his mouth after spending 2000k...

Asus Netbook Great Buy

Comes with a SD card reader which means I can view my cameras pictures very easy. I was also able to run Fedora Linux on it easily on it because the 250 GB hard drive came pre-partitioned into one 100GB and one 120GB sections which I did not expect but...

This is my first netbook and it is very impressive. It starts up very fast so there is little need to keep it on when not in use. The battery is a 48W/hour which is almost as big as my full sized Dell Laptop battery 58W/hour, so this little machine can...

Windows 7 starter can be a little restrictive but I do not use the computer for intensive tasks. The desktop picture can not be changed because Windows 7 starter does not allow for it but if you look online you can find ways around it. You will also...

Battery life is VERY good!

I'm getting in the neighborhood of 10 to 11 hours of battery life out of mine and would get more if I lowered the screen brightness a little further and did perhaps a couple more optimizations aimed toward that purpose. I think 12 or even 13 hours may...

Low price, very nice keyboard, EXCELLENT touch-pad, excellent screen, and very good battery life (if you keep screen brightness reasonably low). Quality is evident all around.

The usual bloatware you find on pretty much any new computer these days, although perhaps LESS than most similar products. No dial-up modem connection.
