Asus A7S8X-MX Socket A Motherboard and AMD Sempron 3000+ Processor

This quality deal should be a great pair to start off a custom desktop computer, perhaps if you have very cheap desktop computers in mind, this will fit the bill.

With that said, this is a good combo. It's price is right for the pair and it's a good starting point. Make sure you buy a decent fan with it too.

Asus helps Intel launch the Santa Rosa platform, but is it as good as we hoped?

A large, powerful brute of a machine that is more beast than beauty. The new Santa Rosa CPU is fast but we'll only really get excited about the Santa Rosa once we see Turbo Memory equipped machines.

Back from the dead.

This computer quit working on me in 2012 so I put it in storage. I just found it last week and performed a reflow of the motherboard. Long story short... it booted right up and is working like it was before. I installed Linux Mint and it is running...

This has now become my kids laptop, for learning and playing games

What a machine! Bought it 8 yeas eight years ago and it is still running

Vista was a terrible thing to do to this machine. ASUS should have set it up with XP. Vista was one of MS's worst ever operating systems. I hope someday we can all have the option of using a user friendly version of Linux and get away from the tyranny...

Fantastic

Looks awesome, plays COD4 and CSS at max settings. The graphics look amazing in full HD. I'm pretty sure it would play Crysis with medium settings too, not sure about high settings though. I don't like the game so I haven't actually tried it....
