ASUS K55N

Purchased this laptop in Aug of 2013, has been working great...especially after replacing the HDD with a SSHD

The HDD crashed in early 2015, replaced with SSHD and so far so good

Good Price Bad Computer

The price for what specs this laptop has is very good

this laptop gave me trouble earlier this year, the display screen stopped working and this was supposed to be a new laptop but my gut is telling me it was refurbished and its still giving me problems now ; I have sent it in to asus for repair since...

Amazing laptop!

This laptop was fit for me beyond what I expected. I solely bought this laptop for gaming purposes. I was a bit skeptical because it was refurbished, but when I opened the package it seemed like it was brand new. I haven't had any problems with it...

The touch pad is a bit difficult to use. I use a wired/wireless mouse

Update to earlier review

I'd still go for it as long as you intend to use it close to your WAP, or have a thoroughly pervasive wireless infrastructure like a school or such, or hard wire it to your router...oh...looky there, d/ced again before completing the review update. The...

All of the pros from my previous review still apply

Same here, up to and including the fact that after hours of dinking around with that useless Win8 OS, I finally wiped and did a clean install of Win7, which seemed to have cleared up all of my issues except the one below ; Now for the new "con" in the...

Asus K55N 15.6" Laptop

The construction of the laptop is a little flimsy, and the keyboard flexes upward a little bit in the middle. But the keyboard has a good feel to it and it is easy to type with it. I have only ever used Asus motherboards in my desktop builds, and this...

Low price ; Asus reliability ; Low weight ; Overall a great laptop for the price, it does everything I need it to do for school, and doesn't weigh a ton. Great features for the price. I have played a couple of video games on it, and I haven't been...

Battery life ; Windows 8 ; Construction ; Trackpad ; The battery life isn't great, regardless of the power settings used. Windows 8 is not a great OS in my opinion, and the tiles thing is more of a distraction than it is a useful tool. Now you have the...

A great buy

I bought this for my girlfriend to play SIMS, watch movies, and do schoolwork. It does all these things great with no overheating, comfort, or any other issues. Windows 8 takes some getting used to, but my gf just uses "desktop mode" anyway. Windows 8...

I like the track pad, perfect size and accuracy ; Good keyboard ; Stays cool to the touch where your hands go ; Above average battery life ; For the price, HDD, RAM, and graphics are excellent ; Runs Minecraft on far distance with all graphics settings...

The processor speed bottlenecks gaming performance, but not enough for it to be an issue on older/simpler games. I'm assuming your not buying this laptop to play Arkham Asylum

great deal at $379.99

tyler below said it has 2gb graphics card, and it does NOT . it is shared video memory. so you can share up to 2gb of system ram with the gpu portion of this apu. this is NOT dedicated graphics with its own 2gb of video of memory. i upgraded this to an...

this is a great price for this unit. i have the lesser of this model: smallerr hdd, and less ram. and paid the same $379.99. so this is a steal

none, once you get the track pad and keyboard sorted out

Pure Excellence

Post people say (including me beforehand) complain constantly about Windows 8, BUT I have actually grown to like it better than 7. You can still use you're desktop screen just like all other versions of windows, and if you look up a Windows 8 tutorial...

Good Hard drive storage, decent RAM, comfortable keyboard, built-in web cam and mic, USB 3.0 ports, EVERYTHING ; It comes with a few neat built-in Apps that just makes things cool. You can switch between using a plugged in mouse and the trackpad to...

The only flaw is the processor. Coming in at only 1.90Ghz, you can sometimes notice it, but with the 6 gigs of RAM and the 2 gig graphics card, it more than makes up for it ; Web cam goes only to a max of 0.9MP ; I had a problem with the shipping. I...

Overall, It's GREAT.!

Windows 8 is my only complaint. it took me and my IT guy like 6 hours to be able to dual boot with win7 and ubuntu, a huge waste f time. so ya, windows 8 "start screen" ??? ....or whatever they call it, is completely laughable. i have no idea why...

THe pros are ; great comfortable keyboard ; 6gb of ram and quad core processor ; decent battery life ; thinner than i thought it would be ; screen can get the job done

WINDOWS 8 ; it has some type of UEFI secure boot downloaded with it, preventing you from dualbooting. what a gimmick ; i completely wiped windows 8, replaced it with win7 pro, which allowed me to dualboot with ubuntu. my advice to anyone looking to...
