Asus C90S

Normal folk are looking to notebooks as replacements for their desktop PCs. But you ain't normal folk—you want power, flexibility, and upgradeability in your mobile rig.

Laptop with an upgradeable CPU and GPU now a reality

Won't take a quad-core CPU; ships with a midrange GPU; loud

In the end, the C90S is clearly flawed. Under a heavy load, it’s loud and hot. The low- to midrange 8600M GT part is also pretty lackluster, considering this rig is supposed to compete with gaming notebooks. However, we’d be lying if we said Asus’s...

ASUS C90S

The C90S does a lot of things right -- the heat that exudes from the wrist rest and the touchpad however, and the large and loud exhaust are deal-killers, meaning we just can't recommend it.

HDMI, eSATA, Bundled MX518 mouse, Decent battery life, Built in overclocking

Chassis heats up, making typing and mouse use uncomfortable, "Turbo Engine" fans loud, whiny and annoying

Asus C90S Laptop Barebones review

Depending on how you plan to use the C90S, business oriented users will enjoy the option of extreme processing power when paired with a high-end Core 2 Duo processor. However those hoping to game hard with the C90S should look elsewhere, as the gaming...

It's hard to agree with this format as there is little benefit for a lot of work and considerably more noise. It's not that it hasn't been well engineered or that it doesn't produce good results, it's just that it doesn't seem worth it. For the same...

Overclockable, e-SATA, HDMI

Louder than average operation and extremely noisy when overclocked and under heavy load, faster FSB speeds of the desktop CPU are almost wasted on a notebook motherboard

Although it's not the first, the ASUS C90S is one of the more elegant implementations of a desktop CPU in a notebook, even if it is an over-the-top, a...

ASUS C90S

ASUS's latest laptop offering has some positives, but a few fatal flaws as well.

HDMI. eSATA. Bundled MX518 mouse. Decent battery life. Built in overclocking.

Chassis heats up, making typing and mouse use uncomfortable. "Turbo Engine" fans loud, whiny and annoying.

The C90S does a lot of things right -- the heat that exudes from the wrist rest and the touchpad however, and the large and loud exhaust are deal-killers, meaning we just can't recommend it.

ASUS have given us a powerful desktop replacement with the C90S, but the extra heat generated by desktop components means this laptop gets uncomfortably hot.

ASUS C90S

Unless I am doing something that requires extra CPU power, I leave it in energy save mode and it is not loud at all and does not heat up, this is with a 7200 RPM drive.

Speed, when you need it, sharp screen and HDMI/esata output

Noisy when overclocked
