Review Asus F70SL Notebook

Multimedia in 17.3 inches. The 17.3 inch Asus F70SL tries to appe ...

Stable case ; Comfortable keyboard ; Low noise emissions

Heavy ; Test device's display was defective

Also worth mentioning is that equally high temperatures are reached to a part in idle mode as with load. It would have been desirable to have lower temperatures in such a large device with a starter multimedia card

How will Asus' big 17" F70SL laptop fare?

Asus F70SL Notebook

Unlike most PC reviews that have to rushed through in only a week or so I have been allowed to keep this unit for an extended period that has allowed me to not only review it but a number of software products with it as the medium.

So as supplied to me Windows Vista Home Premium, Intel Core Duo 2.16GHz processor, 4GB of RAM, NVidia GeForce 9300M GS graphics, DVD Multi Drive, 1.3MB Web Cam and Realtek High Definition audio with SRS Premium sound. The left side has the DVD and SD...

On reflection I have to admit that reflective surfaces do not rank high in my list of attributes for a variety of devices. It is not just that they reflect images, including that of my visage, but they tend to become disfigured with finger smear and...

Asus - F70SL

Laptops continue to outsell desktop PCs and the continuing evolution of ‘desktop replacement' laptops is one of the reasons. The Asus F70 series (we're reviewing the F70SL-TY076C here) certainly has the screen to do it, claiming ...

The F70SL is a good-looking, reasonably well-equipped, desktop-replacement laptop with a big screen. It isn't ‘Full HD' as Asus claims, but it's still good for most 2D uses. There is another version of the F70SL, the TY129C, which is currently around...

Asus F70SL

The big picture is let down by lacklustre graphics but, for the price, it's still a good value option as a desktop replacement.

If you can up your budget, the F70SL-TY129C version can be picked up for £860 and comes with a P8600 running at 2.4GHz. However, it's still saddled with the GeForce 9300M GS graphics chip. Our review model, the F70SL-TY076C has the slower T5850 CPU...
