Asus K50AB review

Asus brings potent 3D power to the sub-£500 laptop

Good 3D performance ; Excellent screen ; Decent specifications

Below average processor performance ; Lack of software

Though it has strong points, Asus' laptop can be bettered for similar money

Asus K50AB

Looks and feels upmarket for the price. Multi-touch touchpad in entry-level machine.

Low battery life. No Bluetooth.

The K50AB is a typical mid-range laptop that looks good, but the in-built GPU-switching feature doesn't save on battery at all. We'd suggest looking elsewhere for your mid-range needs.

Asus K50AB SX029C Laptop

The product is powerful for the price, and generally fairly sensible

The sound system is not compatible with programs such as Goldwave, and there is a lack of ports for older devices (e.g. serial ports are lacking)

Its a nice stable laptop with a nice Spec and it runs stuff well I use it for WoW, Ra2 And 3d Games like Command and Conquer so it runs it all well Overall Nice Laptop

Has a squeeking noise when its running sounds like one of the fans, Might just be mine but its annoying and sounds like the noise they use to keep kids away.

Asus K50AB SX029C Laptop

Good value for money with competent graphics hardware suitable for gaming, it can even run World In Conflict on high settings with framerates of around 35fps. Well designed, durable keyboard and chassis which seems sturdy and resilient, in an...

The laptop shipped with a 32bit version of Windows Vista, meaning that only 3GB of the installed 4GB of RAM can be used most of the time. This is somewhat compensated for however, with the 'unusable' remaining gigabyte of memory being used to...

Asus K50AB SX029C Laptop

Sleek and stylish, like the new eee ranges of PC's and a good solid "feel" to it's build. The technical stats cover all bases from work and play and give it some future proofing. Nice little laptop

The only drawback is the horrible glossy finish. In taking the PC out of it's packaging my greasy finger prints were all over it, this happens every time you open or close it, put it in the laptop bag etc.
