ASUS M70Sa-X2

 

The ASUS M70Sa-X2 has everything you can possibly imagine on a laptop. So what's the downside?

A terabyte's worth of storage. 4GB of memory. 1080p screen. Fast processor. Every A/V feature imaginable. Blu-ray drive included. 1GB of video memory.

It's heavy.

The Asus M70 is the most fully loaded laptop we've seen in a long while. Aside from its massive terabyte of hard-drive space (enough to hold a few hundred movies or a few hundred thousand MP3s), the multimedia system incorporates a Blu-ray drive and a...

Upscale, CE-like design; full HD-resolution screen with handy automatic display settings; Blu-ray drive and 1TB of storage; multimode touch pad; full complement of ports and connections; decent battery life.

Large and heavy; 32-bit OS leaves 1GB of RAM sitting dormant; midrange GPU does not offer top-notch gaming performance; doesn't ship with a Media Center remote.

You can find Blu-ray-equipped desktop replacements for less, but no other media laptop currently offers as many features for the price as the Asus M70.

Surprisingly good battery life (over 1 hour, 40 minutes) for a 17-inch rig. Dual hard drives allows for mirroring (and perfect, instant backups). Precise loud speakers, including bottom-mounted subwoofer

Very buggy even under minimal load. Extremely dim LCD, even at max brightness. Awkward case design requires punching a difficult-to-reach button to open the lid

With a mass of storage and a large breadth of features, the M70SA from ASUS is a solid performer and a decent media centre/desktop replacement to boot.
