Asus N551JW (GTX 960M) Notebook Review

High-quality entertainment. The latest edition of Asus' paragon multimedia laptop promises more power in all sectors. The whole thing has only one catch: The buyer has to dig deeper into their pocket.

System performance, Build, Noise under load, Maintenance covers, Subwoofer included

Somewhat spongy trackpad, Somewhat bulky

Asus is true to its principles and presents us with a successful and elegant multimedia laptop. As usual, the workmanship is satisfactory. The device could only be slightly slimmer for our taste. The input devices are even suitable for prolonged office...

Asus N551ZU Notebook Review

As quiet as a mouse. They are rare indeed: Multimedia laptops equipped with AMD APUs and a powerful dedicated Radeon core. The overall performance is impressive - provided the price is reasonable.

Rigid casing, Moderate noise, Solid gaming performance, Decent application performance, DisplayPort (FreeSync) and HDMI, Good input devices, Maintenance cover, Subwoofer included

TFT w/ pale colors, tight viewing angles, No "Gigabit Wi-Fi", Some games "throttle" due to the weak APU

With its N551ZU-CN007H, Asus puts a good laptop on the desk: The 15-inch device features a solid build, has maintenance options, useful input devices, and does not get too loud or too warm during use. Generally speaking, the performance of AMD's APU...

Asus N551JK-CN166H Notebook Review

Silver entertainer. Asus introduces an overall well-designed, representative all-rounder in stylish aluminum looks to the upper-range for approximately 1000 Euros (~$1134). It is even possible to risk a game owing to the GeForce GTX 850M. Only the...

Stylish, well-built casing, Successful metal imitation, DisplayPort installed, VGA omitted, Dual-band Wi-Fi, Maintenance cover, Decent touchpad, Bright, high-contrast IPS screen, Good to very good application and gaming performance, Perfect Turbo...

Casing could be slimmer, No noteworthy accessories, No Gigabit Wi-Fi, Maintenance cover fitted too tightly, Too small number pad, No real SSD

The final rating makes it evident that Asus' N551JK-CN166H completely convinced us in the test. We did not discover any really severe shortcomings. Of course, choosing a 47-watt CPU with only two physical cores is a bit questionable, but that was...

Horrible. Started getting Blue screen of death Driver errors within months

The gaming potential was great before the errors started happening.

Literally less than 5 months after I bought this laptop I started getting the Blue screen of death errors telling me "ERR_Driver_Power_State_Failure". Now it happens every day and it has cost me TIME and MONEY. I've lost school reports, essays, and...

Fine until the hard drive failed

Fairly fast and plenty of hard drive space

After four months of use Windows started giving me hard drive errors. Running check disk and rebuilding Windows 8.1 didn't work. I requested a new hard drive via support but they want the whole laptop to be RMA. The laptop isn't a hard item to replace....

"Refurbished", huh?

I can live with the dent, but I would like to talk to a CSR about getting a proper charger and some replacement memory for this "refurbished" laptop.

This laptop looks great on paper. Has great specs.

Whoever did the refurbishing on it didn't do spit. The laptop I received has a dent in the corner on the aluminum case, Windows bluescreened in about 15 minutes because of bad memory (verified on a diagnostic) and the charger this thing shipped with...

Best GAMING LAPTOP for the price!

Got it for $670 about 4 months ago. Now it is $200 more, I must have got a deal!

Fast i-7 processor 4110HQ (On high-performance power mode, jumps the clock to 3.4GHz.) Video card is pretty good, plays most new games still at med-high settings. 8GB ram -- all I need for now. 7200 RPM hard-drive Cool keyboard with lights. All silver....

Power button next to PGDN key is annoying. None

Good but not great

Overall, it's pretty nice, even with the drawbacks mentioned above. All the same, I'm considering selling it and getting something with 11ac WiFi. Battery life isn't the greatest, but that wasn't my main concern and certainly given the processor I...

It's a fast machine. For compiles of 18,000 lines of C++, it's about 10-15% faster than a desktop 3.1 GHz Sandybridge Core i5. I like the feel of the keyboard. The touchpad is passable, but I resort to using an external mouse. Screen is nice for my...

Came installed with Windows 8-something. Immediately ditched that for a SSD and installed Linux. However, it's not well-supported under Linux. Asus should really provide support for such things as the function keys (screen brightness, especially), and...

Cheap Mid-end Gaming Laptop

I am buying an SSD to go with this Laptop. It does take a while to load up, but it is fine after I get it starting.

-Can play Starcraft on High with 60 FPS -Works great for school -i7 Processor

-If I had more money i'd buy a laptop with a better video card -Windows 8.1 (Upgraded to Windows 10)

Reasonable value, but the loss of the END key is a major annoyance.

This PC is obviously marketed to the business user who needs processing and graphics power, but the functionality of this machine is significantly marred by ASUS's design mistake of replacing the END key with the on/off button. This is a significant...

Delivered quickly and in perfect condition. Appears to be of good quality and function (except for the loss of the END key).

ASUS replaced the END key with the on/off button (a significant design deficiency and annoyance).
