This all sounds really negative, but it’s not a bad screen: it’s perfectly serviceable for the sub-£500 price bracket, and you shouldn’t expect impossibly high resolutions and perfect contrast at this end of the market.

The Asus V550CA-CJ106H has an unenviable task of balancing power and price, but it doesn't do too bad a job. There are some nice features, such as the generous 1TB of disk space included and the touchscreen, but there are also some trade-offs.

If you're terribly patient you can still use it.

Wide spacing between keys makes it a little difficult to get used too.. compared to conventional keyboards. Lack of start menu in Windows 8 is atrocious! What were they thinking?! To be fair this is nothing to do with the laptop..

I bought this laptop for my sons 14th birthday after much research and I have to say it looks and feels great; it also has a very nice display and keyboard and setup was a breeze. Applied the free MS upgrade to Windows 8.1 through the Windows Store...

None relating to the supplier or the laptop manufacturer. Needs free Classicshell for that familiar Windows 7 Start menu.

Good spec, quick and almost silent. Good quality build also!

Nice design. Very quiet. Doesn't get hot, even after several hours use. Touch screen.

Windows 8. Doesn't Perform as well as I'd hoped considering the specs. Required some updates & changes to settings to boost performance. Can be sluggish at times.
