Asus W3V Notebook Review (pics, specs)

My current notebook is an ASUS W3V. Asus lists this notebook as a "Thin and Light" on their website, and this 14" 5.5 lb machine certainly fits the description. The W3V is part of Asus' ensemble line and thus most W3Vs have the same specifications,...

Asus W3V Review (pics, specs)

The Asus W3V is a jack-of-all-trades notebook. It combines portablility (5 lbs), power (Sonoma 1.86 Ghz CPU 533mhz FSB, ATi X600 64mg), and beauty (aluminum and carbon fiber casing) into an elegant package that draws many looks. I do have to say that...

Asus W3V

Asus's new W3V notebook aims to be a gaming and multimedia powerhouse with looks to match.

Stylish and sleek design. Thin and light. Great performance for entertainment and work apps.

Significant heat issues. Not enough USB 2.0 ports.

The Asus W3V is a good looking machine that boasts decent performance both as an entertainment and work unit. But the heat issues could be a significant factor for you depending on how you interact with your laptop.

Great laptop

Overall a great laptop. You get the bang for your buck.

Here's what I found when I compared the W3V to my previous laptop Dell Inspiron 8500 (4 y.o.) and my gf's Sony Vaio sz240 ; Great battery life (4hr+ due to the Power4 Gear Utility and its power saving configurations) ; Sleek and Sexy design ; Weight...

Extra buttons on the sides are easy to accidentally hit. Can be annoying at times ; CPU isn't up to par with today's CPUs, but isn't much of a problem ; Speaker output is low
