Disk Tray Won't Eject

Can handle streaming video games

Mic and headset is one port, so you might have to buy an adapter ; Disk tray wont eject after being used only a handful of times

Great Laptop

I've owned this since August 2014 (about 10 months now). I immediately installed Xubuntu 14.04 as a dual boot with Windows 8.1. I've only booted to Windows a few times since I've owned this. My only complaint with this laptop is the Broadcomm wireless...

Speed, Linux / Ubuntu compatability, optical drive, Intel i5, discrete graphics card, 64bit, lots of RAM, USB 3.0 port

Wireless card, battery life

If you're looking for a light desktop replacement that you can use with an external keyboard and mouse, this is a great machine. All of the under-the-hood hardware bits work fine, and I've been able to run some fairly demanding games on this machine...

Most of the hardware is solid, and the default power settings are actually solid: if I run in Power Saver mode, I can get five or six hours of unplugged use out of the system (with a noticeable drop in performance), and if I run on High Performance...

Unfortunately I've had some terrible experiences with most of the attached input devices. I had issues with the keyboard losing keystrokes from day one, with about one in every fifteen keystrokes missing - I think it might be an issue with the design...

Frustrating Issues with Basic Usage

Awesome Laptop

Overall I would say don't hesitate one bit and buy this laptop; Asus is a great brand. A lot of reviews have been complaining about the power key being right above the esc key, but I have yet to accidentally hit the power key instead of esc.

This laptop is an awesome buy. I decided to get this laptop for mainly school work, but I also wanted the ability to play some games. This laptop definitely won't be running anything on max but I play most games just fine: BF4, AC3, Counter Strike: GO,...

The only cons I currently have with this laptop is that the screen is definitely not the best and could definitely be better. It doesn't have but one good viewing angle and the resolution could use some work but if your like me you probably have a TV...

Amazing Laptop!

Was the cheapest 1080p screen+ dedicated graphics card laptop at the time but its well worth it. It can run BF3 at 1080 on medium settings at around 60 fps! Deadspace 3 at max settings/1080p it kept 60 the whole time. Not bad for only paying 630 for a...

Very quiet ; Great performance thanks to the i5,840m,8gb ram, its a solid laptop ; 1080p screen ; Full number pad ; Got a great price, $630

The Track pad's left and right button are part of the pad, didn't care for this design ; The converter was at the end of the cord where the plug to the wall is, i fine the ones with the converter brick in the middle better, because mine gets unplugged...

The touchpad and keyboard is disappointing

I really wanted to like it.

Good screen, Graphics card is plenty powerful. CPU nothing to complain about. 8GB of RAM is plenty even if 4GB of it is stuck to the mainboard

Battery life is shoddy, The touchpad is unresponsive and the smart gesture software doesn't help, unlike other ASUS laptops I have had in which the touch-pad was the best thing about the machine. After about 2 weeks the C, 1 ,2, 3 , and Enter keys...

Lots of Power for the Price

I turned on the laptop to make sure it worked for about 10 min. Then I used a tool to get the Windows 8.1 key out of it. Using my PC, I formatted the drive and deleted the recovery partition. I installed a clean Windows 8 OEM copy, and used the OEM key...

Great finish ; Cool to the touch while running ; Offers a good mid range GPU and mid range CPU ; Has a DVD drive...which is sadly disappearing from new laptops in order to reduce weight

You have 8 GB. 4 GB is soldered to the motherboard. 4 GB on a DIMM slot. This really kills future upgrades for the RAM since it's not a great idea to mix the stock RAM with a separate higher speed 4 GB DIMM ; As usual, bloatware on the laptop

Pretty good for the price

Overall I would say that this thing has good features for the price, and would recommend, no problems so far with bad pixels or anything. Also, Make sure to uninstall all the crapware that comes bundled with it, and you should be good.

Has a dedicated GPU that gets the job done. Don't expect to max any games out, but the amount of RAM and CPU are more than adequate for most applications. Games are playable, and perform pretty decent, just not at max settings, like I stated above....

The actual material that this thing is made out of seems a bit on the cheap side, especially evident on the LCD screen. Just seems to flimsy to me, so I would recommend getting a protective case to put it in. Overall, my biggest complaint about this...
