Dell's re-imagined Inspiron line continues to push the boundaries of what one can expect from this long-standing mainstream/budget laptop family. For years, an Inspiron was a bulky plastic box designed to offer competent computing at a reasonable...

The Dell Inspiron 13z is a slim, low-cost 13-inch laptop with performance to match more-expensive systems.

The plastic body feels cheap, as do the ports flaps and small touch pad.

With the same CPU as you find in ultrabooks that cost a lot more, the Dell Inspiron 13z is a budget laptop that holds its head up high.

While we had a few design quibbles and we'd highly recommend getting the battery upgrade, the Inspiron 13z offers exceptional value.

it is clear from our testing today that Dell really did their homework before building the Inspiron 13z and they have taken feedback from the community and addressed a number of issues which are generally problems within the smaller sized laptop...

In its Core i3 incarnation, the Inspiron 13z nicely slots into the role of throw-about, entry level laptop, perfect for those who really just want to do a bit of web browsing, watch movies and do office-like tasks.

What you get for the price is excellent ; Good battery life for a cheap laptop

Annoying flaps on every port that you'll just want to tear off ; Design makes it seem like a toy ; Speakers aren't great
