Dell Inspiron 9200 17-inch laptop review

Bios Magazine likes the Dell Inspiron 9200's massive 17-inch display and attractive case (even calling it Apple G4-like, but hey, they said it, not us), but unfortunately the laptop uses an aging ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 graphics card and has a...

Service and support

Dell Inspiron 9200

A 17-inch wide-screen display; capable performance with games and overall; comparatively light; quality speakers; double-layer DVD burner.

Lacks an integrated TV tuner; can't play audio or video without booting up, unlike some other multimedia systems.

We recommend the Dell Inspiron 9200 to home users who want an awesome, relatively portable, desktop-replacement laptop with cutting-edge features and solid performance.

Dell Inspiron 9200 (Iss. 21 2004)

The Inspiron 9200 boasts a bright 17-inch display, the fastest Pentium M 765 (2.1 GHz) currently available, and the longest battery life we've seen in a desktop replacement—all for a very good price.

Bright UltraSharp display. Fast Pentium M processor. Multiformat optical drive. Great battery life.

SD slot only.

If TV tuning is important to you, you may want to look at the Toshiba Qosmio or the HP Pavilion zd8000. If it's not, the Dell Inspiron 9200 is a great multimedia buy at a deal of a price.

A great laptop well worth the price point. A longer warranty would be nice.
