Dell Inspiron Duo (Black)

The flip screen implementation is an original and refreshing take on the convertible tablet, but the Dell Inspiron Duo underwhelms when it comes to features and tablet performance.

Clever and refreshing take on convertible tablet design. High resolution screen. Excellent keyboard and mouse button combination. Sturdy netbook. 2GB of DDR3 memory included. Fast-spinning hard drive

Bare-bones feature set. Battery is small and not user-removable. Poor battery life. Touch performance is sluggish. Components can't handle Windows 7 Home Premium. Cluttered with 3rd party and proprietary software

Dell Inspiron Duo

Though it sports one of the most innovative designs we've seen in a while, the Dell Inspiron Duo lacks the necessary touch responsiveness and completely misses as a netbook.

Innovative convertible tablet design. High-resolution screen. Excellent keyboard and mouse button combination. Sturdy netbook. 2GB of DDR3 memory included. Fast-spinning hard drive.

Bare-bones feature set. Small, non-removable battery. Poor battery life. Touch functionality is flawed and sluggish. Components are not equipped to handle Windows 7 Home Premium. Cluttered with third-party and proprietary software.

Dell Inspiron 9300

Expensive, full-featured entertainment notebook could be more powerful.

Conveniently designed with lots of ports

Doesn't have a built-in TV tuner

This beautiful 17-inch wide screen has fun-to-use media buttons, but you can find better-sounding entertainment notebooks; and for the money, we'd have like to get a TV tuner built-in.

Dell Inspiron 9300 review: Dell Inspiron 9300

Dell Inspiron 9300

17-inch wide-screen display; very good performance with games and 2D business applications; comparatively lightweight; quality speakers; runs Windows XP Media Center; features double-layer DVD burner.

TV tuner is external; unlike some other multimedia systems, can't play audio or video without booting up; many user complaints about WUXGA resolution.

The Dell Inspiron 9300 packs advanced multimedia features and blazing performance for gaming and home or business applications.

Dell Inspiron 9300

The Dell Inspiron 9300 is the company's first Media Center Edition notebook, and it's a fine effort.

Great-looking screen. Blistering graphics. Very good battery life given the size.

TV tuner is external and optional.

All told, the Dell Inspiron 9300 is a very good system if you're a multimedia fanatic, a DVR junkie, or a part-time gamer. Just be sure to opt for the TV tuner.

Dell Dimension 9100

The Dimension 9100 has a white and silver BTX case, with the case door on the opposite side from what you're likely accustomed to, especially if you were working in an older ATX case, which is likely. BTX is the new industry standard for motherboards...

Quiet BTX design. Easy to open and service. Bright 20-inch widescreen LCD. Media card reader. Dual-core power for multitasking

Limited internal drive expansion. No HDTV tuner. Could use a wireless keyboard and mouse

If you crave an upgrade from that 2- to 3-year-old midrange system sitting on your desk, the Dimension 9100 can take the home media hobbyist to the next level.
