Dell Latitude D520 review

Dell Latitude D520 The D520 is the latest member of Dell's corporate-focused Latitude line to get a tune-up. Following in the footsteps of the thin-and-light D620 and the midsize D820 , the D520 now features Intel Core Duo processors and a slightly...

Reasonable price; solid mobile performance and battery life; reinforced frame; lots of component choices, including Intel Core Duo processors; onsite service comes standard.

No discrete graphics option; lacks a fingerprint sensor; no built-in WWAN capability.

While the Latitude D520 won't wow you in any one respect, its satisfying combination of speed, battery life, features, and price will serve basic business users well.

Dell Latitude D520

If you're in the market for a well-built, functional and versatile business laptop, you could do worse than the D520. The beauty of the Latitude is in its simplicity – and its low price tag.

Provided you don't want it to double up as an entertainment tool, the Latitude has everything that a good business laptop should have: a good turn of speed, long battery life and high build quality. The price tag should please, too.

Great for Legacy Purposes

I wanted a cheap laptop for running old software and just playing around with. I put another 2GB of RAM in it and it took 1GB for a total of 3GB. It is worth putting that other cheap GB in it. It had an old xP license on it which dates it pretty well....

Has old goodies like S-Video, VGA, PCMCIA, serial port, 1394, even a phone modem! Runs Windows 7 perfectly. Luckily uses SATA and has USB. Wi-fi G reception is great. Good solid brick of a laptop

It is older technology. I read that it was released over 6 years ago. Trackpad is not tappable. Buttons below it took getting used to but rarely use it anyway

Spare battery with free computer

I bought a tricked out dual core D520 circa 2006, just before Vista came out for about $2600 , it came with a Vista upgrade. I've since upgraded it to Windows 7. It's been a real workhorse of a machine.

Got this for $159, not much more then the price of a spare D series battery ; Windows 7/Vista 64 bit drivers are available from Dell ; The model has only been out of production for about 4 years ; Max 4GB DDR2 memory upgradable and SATA 150 Disk Drive

The one I got had a severe abrasion mark across the upper center of the LCD, once I powered it up, there was also a 1/4 inch around screen imperfection. Lots of dings, scratches and chips. There's no refund on this item and no guarantee a replacement...

Great budget laptop

i got this computer for school. i dont need it to do all the things that i listed as cons. yes it would be nice to have all of those, but so would be getting solid gold toilet. if you want a quick system for the cheap for word processing and a bit...

if you intend to do some upgrades to help with some of the bottleneck issues of this current setup, this laptop is a great steal. Even without the upgrades that i did to it, upon booting up windows xp home, the laptop performed well beyond my...

as i said, if you plan to get this, make sure you are ready to do some upgrades. and these upgrades are a pain. the 2nd dimm slot is located underneath the keyboard. who designed that? the hdd was simple enough, but i noticed as i was disassembling...
