Dell Latitude D531 Review

The Latitude D531 has a very simple design. The two-tone black and grey casing is mostly grey on the exterior. I find the design rather refreshing compared to the horribly bland looks of HP and Lenovo's business notebooks. Some say that the Latitude is...

Appealing design for a business notebook ; Quiet fans ; Generally solid build quality ; Exceptional battery life

Grainy screen ; Haywire touchpad at times ; Loud hard drive

My general impression of this notebook is neither wholly positive nor negative. It has little problems yes, but such things might be expected for a budget notebook you're paying $799 for. The build quality is good overall and better than many consumer...

Dell Latitude D531

Dell offers up a budget AMD notebook for corporate clients. Does it hit the spot, or are the compromises a little too great?

Dell - Latitude D531

Dell's AMD-powered Latitude D531 is unlikely to win any awards for its looks. However, it does have a fast dual-core processor, 2GB of memory and a nice display plus Wi-Fi connectivity as standard, making for a ...

Not the fastest laptop around nor the prettiest, and quite bulky to boot. Nonetheless the AMD-powered Latitude D531 is a well specified budget notebook with a dual core processor, 2GB of memory and Wi-Fi as standard. A large, bright display is another...

Pretty Good Deal for the Price

I put a solid state hard drive in it to speed it up a little and maxed out the memory. The graphics card in it makes it a snappy little rig. They did a really good refurb job on it. The things looks factory fresh. I'm pretty pleased with the purchase.

Mine came with a 2.1ghz dual core with 2 gig of memory. I needed something to run XP ( to run some older software) and I needed an array of older ports to access that related hardware. It has all the requirements. It runs fairly fast. Nvidia graphics...

Wish it would take more memory but its limited to 4 gig. It would have been better to have more usb, but a hub will do

Great laptop

This is overall a great laptop, and support was really great about helping me locate the missing drivers. Windows XP x64 runs very fast and very smooth on this machine. The 7200 RPM drive really makes a difference, and with the 9 cell battery I get...

This is a very fast machine, I bought it with the 2.3 dual core and 2 gigs of RAM and its a powerhouse. It docks seamlessly with my 24" widescreen monitor and has a decently powerful video chipset.

Dell has been great with drivers for their hardware, although for this machine I was slightly disappointed as they are missing some of the drivers for the Windows XP x64 OS such as Ethernet.

Solid product

Get as much memory as you can and this thing is blindingly fast.

Fast, reasonably light, solidly built, fast delivery (3 days from order date). Definitely pleased this has the XP operating system as an option.

Wish it had a memory stick slot. Small and insignificant whining on my part though.
