D901C Phantom-x

When it comes to the desktop replacement category of laptop PCs, users want the power and utility of a full-fledged computing rig without the hassle of being chained to a particular desk. Eurocom obliges with the D901C Phantom-X, a boxy behemoth that...

Packs a substantial amount of hardware A surprisingly quiet package

Woefully cramped keyboard Pricey, no-frills chassis

The Phantom-X lacks dedicated media shortcuts, forcing users to rely on function-button combinations. Another issue is questionable key placement, which can wreak havoc on the unwary. Take the Sleep hotkey, which lies sandwiched between hotkeys for...

Eurocom D900C Phantom-X Review

Thick, heavy unit with a quad-core processor runs scorchingly fast, remarkably quiet, and cool--but can you afford it?

Blazing desktop-like performance ; Very expandable

Extremely expensive ; Terrible battery life

You could always hook up a first-rate external monitor via the notebook's VGA, DVI, or S-Video ports, but for $5158, you could buy two or three laptops with nice built-in displays for the price of one D900C Phantom-X. They won't have the Phantom's...

Eurocom D900C Phantom

The Eurocom D900C Phantom gaming laptop shows scorching performance, but its weight and price hold it back from greatness.

Extreme Edition desktop processor. nVidia SLI graphics. 1,920-by-1,200 screen resolution. Excellent performance numbers.

Features do not reflect the price. Bank-account-crippling price tag. Ho-hum design. Beastly weight. Loud fans.

Eurocom DC900C Phantom X review

Ain't nothing ghostly about this heat-spewing powerhouse

SLI in a desktop replacement ; Unbeatable gaming power

Big, ugly and heavy ; No DirectX 10 support

Phantom offers unmatched graphics performance for gamers and multimedia users.

Eurocom D900C Phantom review

The fastest laptop we've ever benchmarked

Powerful spec ; Excellent performance

Bland styling ; Sub-1hr battery life

Its weight and battery life rule out portability, but the spec and performance are sensational for a notebook

Eurocom D900C Phantom

Given the Phantom's spec list it comes as no surpirise that this is the fastest laptop we've ever benchmarked. The combination of a 2.66GHz Core 2 Quad desktop processor with a wide FSB and super fast DDR2 RAM, rockets it through productivity benchmarks.

Powerful spec, Excellent performance

Bland styling, Sub-1hr battery life

Its weight and battery life rule out portability, but the spec and performance are sensational for a notebook

Eurocom DC900C Phantom X

Desktop replacements are an acquired taste to say the very least. Pro-gamers may love their balance of power and mobility, but for most of us they present something of a quandary.

SLI in a desktop replacement, Unbeatable gaming power

Big, ugly and heavy, No DirectX 10 support

Phantom offers unmatched graphics performance for gamers and multimedia users.
