Fujitsu LifeBook A512 budget laptop review

It's a budget design and a conservative choice at that. At 36 mm thick, it out-slabs even Asus' desktop replacement 17-incher, and tips the balances at just over 2.4 kg. That's not untypical for 15-inch laptops in recent memory, but somehow seems even...

Very short battery life recommend this laptop to a life on the mains leash, although its older IO, low-res screen and chunky build still make it hard to get excited about this dated design. In its favour are relatively easy memory and drive upgrades,...

Fujitsu Lifebook A512

I knew the laptop would be let down by the HDD, so I replaced it with an SSD (Sandisk Ultra). It now boots in 4 seconds. SSD with i3 and 8GB RAM for the price I paid... very nice. Solid construction. Easy access internally for upgrades.

Hard drive is slow. Slightly heavy. Battery life could be better.

Fast start-up and Fujitsu quality - my last Fujitsu laptop was still working after 10 years.

None at present.

Fujitsu Lifebook A512

It is a fine product. The build and design is v.good - the keys are precise, and there is a solidity and quality feel about the laptop.

The sound coming out of speakers is very tinny though the sound through the earpiece is perfect. Sometimes the air expelled is very hot, it's right by the usb connected wires I just hope that I'm not overworking the machine!

Fujitsu Lifebook A512

I'm a software engineer, the Software development kits that I use are so demanding, and my old lap top with 4GB RAM and 1,8 Ghz Celeron processor was driving me crazy, I needed a new lap top that provides fast computing and my budget was limited, this...

I don't feel comfortable using the touchpad, not too easy to scroll up and down with the touchpad, but on the other hand I feel more comfortable using the keyboard on this lap top than on the older one.
