Gateway E-100M (Core Duo)

The Gateway E-100M ultraportable laptop is lightweight, durable, and reasonably priced. The Gateway E-100M ultraportable laptop is lightweight, durable, and reasonably priced.

Affordable. Durable exterior. Memory and processor upgrade. For an extra $31, you can get awesome battery life with the optional 89-Wh battery.

Gateway offers only an external USB optical drive. Bundled 29-Wh battery won't cut it.

Gateway E-100M (Core Duo) review: Gateway E-100M (Core Duo)

Extremely portable and lightweight; upgrade to Core Duo CPU; subdued black design; advanced security features, such as TPM chip.

The outside of the case is slightly fingerprint-prone; no built-in optical drive; only Core Duo CPU, not newer Core 2 Duo.

Gateway upgrades the basic black E-100M with a Core Duo CPU to create an unassuming ultraportable that fits the bill for consumers and business users on the go.

Gateway E-100M

Stylish business laptop will appeal to on-the-go users.

Stylish and light ; Good keyboard

A bit sluggish in performance, Relatively short battery life, Optical drive not integrated, Modest performance

Gateway enters the business ultraportable field with a modest-performing but stylish unit with extra security features.

Gateway E-100M

The Gateway E-100M ultraportable deserves high marks: It's well-priced and beautifully designed, yet basic.

Ultrathin. Bright widescreen. Excellent design. One of the cheapest ultraportables in the market.

Performance is underwhelming. Mouse buttons are noisy. ; Watch the Gateway E-100M Video Review!

Gateway E-100M Review (pics, specs)

The Gateway E-100M is a 12.1" screen ultraportable notebook with an Intel Core Solo 1.2GHz processor. The E-100M's sleek design makes it a real head turner, couple that with a good build and battery life and the E-100M becomes an ultraportable well...

HardwareCentral - Gateway E-100M Review.

In our real-world clock-watching tests, the 6-cell battery averaged 3 hours and 40 or 45 minutes of mixed disk-copying/multimedia and word-processing/Web-surfing work. The petite 3-cell pack lasted a minimal but not terrible 1 hour and 40 minutes,...

Holds one FireWire and two USB 2.0 ports, along with Ethernet and modem ports and headphone and microphone jacks. On the left are a VGA port, PC Card slot, and a slot for MultiMediaCard, Secure Digital, and Memory Stick/Pro flash cards, plus a...

Great for the price

Do not regret the purchase one bit. Great little product for the price, especially considering that it's a Core Duo and not a Solo and the fact that it comes with 2GB of ram so there really aren't any other upgrades to do aside from the battery. The...

Light and compact, loaded with enough computing power for everyday tasks plus application development. Mislabeled U2500 is actually a Core Duo, not a Solo. Dual core, 2GB ram, 100GB hd, 3.15lbs... really can't go wrong for the price. Runs cool and...

Fn key in the bottom left where ctrl should be. Viewing angles of the screen are meh. Slightly more sluggish than a Core 2 Duo but not much. Short battery life on stock 3 cell battery, will probably invest in a 6 cell
