RAM issues and how to fix them

As the previous reviewer said, in order for this netbook to recognize the 2GB RAM stick, you muct install the 1.20 BIOS upgrade. The netbook comes with 1.08. Go to acer dot com and click on Services&Support. Then click on Driver Downloads. Select...

The case is attractive. The keyboard is easy to use. Lightweight. Touchpad is well placed and easy to use. RAM was easy to upgrade IF you follow the instructions from the previous reviewer

RAM issue solved - must read!!

I had the same issue with the RAM upgrade to 2GB. I bought two sticks from Newegg, returned one, paid for restocking etc. However, I've also done some digging around and this Gateway is actually a rebadged Acer Aspire One 532H. I went on their forums...

Working finally, but after lots of research

Doesn't accept most 2GB RAM upgrades. Need to go to Acer website to download the latest BIOS. (currently 1.20). Wasted money and time returning sticks back to Newegg, thinking they were bad

Bad RAM Upgrade, Terrible Support

If anyone has managed to get 2G operational is this, please post the memory brand and specs- Tech support stated that only a few mods are certified to work, but I've neever had problems with either manufacturer listed above.

The form factor and config was great on paper. Compared it to others and was certainly the best bang for the buck. Keyboard takes some getting used to due to smaller size. Worked around Win7 Starter wallpaper issues by downloading Stardock utility....

Upgrading RAM to 2G is a nightmare. Tried Corsair and Crucial and both wouldn't work. PC refused to boot. Not sure how others are getting RAM recognize or their PC to boot after. Both mods worked like a charm in another laptop, so it wasn't bad memory....

nice netbook, awesome pricing

Also looked at Toshiba 11" w/ AMD, however didn't feel like spending the extra $100+ and getting a slightly bigger netbook. This one doesn't take too much space in my backpack.

Done lots of research before buying. Saw it in Best Buy, however that one came only in black and had the regular 6-cell battery while the Newegg one has the extended battery. I chose a regular delivery, but it arrived overnight. Awesome Newegg delivery...

Still getting used to typing on the keyboard, not too bad. Getting used to the touchpad as well, not very convenient at first. Ordered 2GB RAM to update, since w/ 1GB Hulu is choppy and so are other HD videos. Might have to upgrade to Windows Premium...
