Gateway UC7807u (Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz review: Gateway UC7807u (Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz

Gateway UC7807u (Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz

Inexpensive 13-inch laptop; decent design; solid features, components for mainstream users.

Humdrum battery life and performance.

Not quite thin, not quite light, but still plenty portable, the Gateway UC7807u should satisfy those with modest mobile PC needs without sacrificing good looks.

UC7807U

Gateway's UC7807u costs only $800? I'm not saying that this borderline ultraportable has the speediest parts--or that it's a featherweight (it's far from either). But the slick styling of this beaut certainly tricks you into thinking it is worth more.

Spacious keyboard and neat touchpad Good, colorful screen

A bit bulky for a 13.3-inch laptop

Software-wise, it comes bearing a relatively light load of bloatware (though you'll waste time uninstalling the demo versions of Microsoft Office). More important, though, is that this machine holds up well. The only real complaint I can level at the...

Gateway Gateway UC7807u Laptop Review

Spacious keyboard and neat touchpad ; Good, colorful screen

A bit bulky for a 13.3-inch laptop

The UC7807u is a notebook with a unique sense of style that offers good performance at a surprisingly decent price.

Gateway UC7807u

Despite an overfed frame, the Gateway UC7807u laptop has a bargain-basement price and trendy design to back it up.

Well designed. Attractive price point. HDMI port included. Slot-loading DVD drive is a nice touch. Full-size keyboard is responsive.

Too heavy for a 13-inch form factor. Mouse buttons are too resistant. Performance trails the competition.

Review: Gateway UC7807u

Long before everyone started gulping down netbook kool-aid, there existed a perfectly tenable option for mobile fetishists: The 13-inch notebook. Indeed when compared to their...

Recession-worthy price. Built like a tank. Slick, touch-sensitive volume and multimedia controls

Tips the scales for a notebook in this category. Battery drains faster than an ATM at a strip club. Epic fail on the tiny circular touchpad. It’s cramped and serves no discernable purpose. Onboard speakers spit out tinny, distorted sound. HDMI, but no...

Gateway UC7807u 13.3" Notebook

When Gateway launched their UC series less than three months ago, the UC7807u retailed for $799. Today, the exact same model and configuration sits at $599. We'll tackle the reasons as to why inside, but let's just say, for $599, the UC7807u is one...

Current pricing makes this notebook a great value ; Stellar design, great aesthetics ; LCD is bright, and crisp ; Full-sized keyboard is fantastic... very easy to type on ; HDMI output a nice bonus for those who require it ; 3 hours of battery-life...

Runs a little warm after even light use ; Some of the ports are oddly placed (matter of opinion)

It feels a bit odd to wrap up my thoughts on a product that's been discontinued, but at the same time, I'm stoked to talk about it just because it's selling for a price that can be considered to be a bargain. Although Dell and others offer 13.3"...

Gateway UC7807u Notebook Review

Gateway has long been a budget staple in the computer industry for notebooks and desktops, and introduced their first 13.3-inch notebook at CES in January. At only $800, it's affordable in this economy, but is it worth it?

Sleek aluminum finish and design., Super affordable., HDMI out

Heavy for a 13.3-inch notebook., Small trackpad and mouse buttons., Middle-of-the-road performance and battery life., No Blu-Ray option available
