HP Spectre 13 (2017) review

Like a ballet dancer who's also a bodybuilder, the Spectre 13 is more power than it looks.

Beautiful design ; Excellent performance ; Solid battery life for most tasks ; Extremely thin and light ; Very good keyboard

Thin chassis sacrifices some rigidity ; Touchpad isn’t Microsoft Precision compatible

The HP Spectre 13 has been significantly redesigned, adding in a touch display in the same ultrathin chassis, and updating to eighth-generation Intel Core processors. It remains a solidly built machine, albeit with the slightest bit of flex due to the...

HP Spectre review: The world's thinnest laptop is surprisingly powerful

The HP Spectre is just 10.4mm thick, but can still run a Core i7 processor.

The HP Spectre is remarkably thin while still managing to fit in Core i5 and Core i7 processors. The keyboard is excellent for such a slim body, and the bold design stands out in a sea of thin ultraportables.

The lack of a touchscreen is a big omission for a premium Windows laptop, and the limited ports may force you to carry extra dongles and accessories.

If you can work with USB-C ports and a nontouch display, the HP Spectre offers a great design and excellent performance in the world's thinnest full-power laptop body.

HP Spectre 13

The HP Spectre 13 combines a thin-as-you-can-get build with top-notch performance, all at a reasonable cost. Connectivity is limited to USB-C, but there's still a lot to like about this well-rounded, well-designed ultraportable.

The thinnest laptop currently available. Nice price. Fast performance. Good battery life. Sharp design. Constructed with high-quality materials. Multiple USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 3.

The thinnest laptop currently available. Nice price. Fast performance. Good battery life. Sharp design. Constructed with high-quality materials. Multiple USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 3. ; No traditional USB ports. 1080p display lacks touch technology.

Conclusion With an incredibly thin body and premium feel, the Spectre 13 is easy to recommend. It'll turn heads, but it's not a case of style over substance, as it beats or matches other top ultraportables we've tested. Because it costs $250 less than...

HP Spectre Review

While its battery life leaves a lot to be desired, the HP Spectre is one of the thinnest, most powerful and best looking ultraportables on the market.

Gorgeous design and color scheme; Super thin; Bright screen; 3 USB-C ports (2 with Thunderbolt 3)

Below-average battery life; No traditional USB ports

HP Spectre

The battle for thinness isn't over, and thankfully as technology advances, the penalties are fewer. The 2.45 lb. HP Spectre 13.3" is currently the world's thinnest laptop, but performance, keyboard ergonomics and heat don't suffer. The Spectre is...

Unique and striking look, extremely thin and light. Good performance and pleasing display

No touch screen, fans comes on more often compared to thicker Ultrabooks, battery life isn't fantastic

It's a rare treat when we see what can only be described as a designer laptop that's 1) not priced way above the competition, 2) actually highly functional. The HP Spectre 13.3" Ultrabook has undeniable good looks, though it may be a bit uncomfortably...

The 'world's thinnest laptop' sets a gold standard

The HP Spectre claims the title of the 'world's thinnest laptop,' but the real story here is its impressive design and top-notch specs.

HP Spectre review: The world's thinnest laptop is surprisingly powerful

To touch or not to touch. That is the question asked of many Windows laptops, from bulky budget boxes to the slimmest premium systems. HP has two new high-end, very thin laptops, and it answers that question differently in each model.

The HP Spectre 13 is the world's thinnest laptop. Yes, it is suave. Yes, it is unique. But is this the best? Here is our full review.

HP Spectre review: the world's thinnest laptop

Laptop manufacturers seem to be set on convincing us that undernourished appearance doesn't lead to underpowered performance – and HP has taken that to a new level with its latest laptop, the Spectre, which it's billing as the thinnest in the world.

The HP Spectre isn’t for everyone. Some won’t like its piston hinge or its non-touchscreen, Full HD display, while its price will put it out of the reach of others. Those looking for something similar but more affordable could consider HP’s Envy 13,...
