HP Spectre XT TouchSmart review: all that, minus the battery life

We had plenty of nice things to say about the HP Envy Spectre XT when we reviewed it last year, but we were already looking ahead to the HP Spectre XT

Brilliant IPS display ; Sophisticated, well-built design ; Good keyboard

Short battery life ; Expensive

The HP Spectre XT TouchSmart boasts a great, 15-inch touchscreen and a comfortable, svelte design. The downsides are disappointing battery life and a high starting price.

Review: HP Spectre XT TouchSmart is a sweet-looking, underpowered laptop in an Ultrabook’s clothing

The brushed-aluminum look screams Ultrabook, and the bigger display is a nice bonus. But the weight, performance, and battery life make it better suited for living-room laptop duty.

Large and lovely touchscreen display ; Eye-catching, brushed-aluminum design

Terrible battery life ; Poor-sounding speakers ; Heavy for its size

HP Spectre XT TouchSmart Ultrabook 15-4010nr

The HP Spectre XT TouchSmart Ultrabook 15-4010nr has something most Windows PCs lack: a Thunderbolt port.

One of the first Windows PCs with Thunderbolt. Has more storage space than SSD-only units. Full size HDMI and Ethernet. Good multimedia benchmark scores. Comes with Adobe Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements. Two years of Norton Internet Security.

USB 3.0 ports are black. Middling battery life.

HP Spectre XT TouchSmart Ultrabook Review

As we saw last week with Mythlogic's Callisto 1512, ultrabooks in the 15.6" form factor are strange beasts. It's pretty clear the industry as a whole is moving towards thinner, lighter notebooks at every traditional size; Intel's ULV processors aren't...

HP Spectre XT TouchSmart Notebook Review

We have recently spent some time working (and playing) with the HP Spectre XT TouchSmart notebook computer. Specifically, we have been using the 15-4010nr Ultrabook model. This is a Windows 8 machine and it happens to be sporting a 15.6-inch Full HD...

Aside from the HP Spectre XT TouchSmart’s battery life, the overall experience was rather pleasant and comfortable. Not only did the notebook perform well, but it did so looking really nice — both in terms of the exterior casing and the quality of the...

HP Spectre XT TouchSmart Review

It was last summer when we were introduced to the HP Spectre XT TouchSmart Ultrabook, resulting in us completely falling in love with its gorgeous 15.6-inch 1080p IPS display that was able to produce some nice colors and its view […]

As long as those two points don’t bother you, and you welcome the additional processing power, then we think the HP Spectre XT TouchSmart would make a fine addition to your life.

This thin and light 15-inch Ultrabook features a beautiful IPS touch display, great backlit keyboard and a stylish design. See why we recommend this PC.

Beautiful touch-enabled display ; Good build quality ; Great keyboard and touchpad ; Good port selection

Review HP Spectre XT TouchSmart 15-4000eg Ultrabook

High-priced Ultrabook. HP integrates Thunderbolt technology, a Fu

IPS display with high contrast ratio; Good keyboard; Fast SSD; Solid chassis; Appealing loooks; Mini DisplayPort; Thunderbolt

Mediocre battery life; Only 4 GB RAM standard; Installed RAM operates in single-channel memory mode

HP Spectre XT TouchSmart Review

The Spectre XT TouchSmart is HP's creme-de-la-creme consumer Ultrabook. In some ways, it lives up to that lofty mantle; in others, it doesn't. The notebook is attractive all right, in a brushed-metal-chassis, black-island-keyboard kind of way. We also...
