HP Envy 15 review: HP Envy 15

The updatedHP Envy 15has premium design and performance for a decent price, plus swanky extras such as a backlit keyboard and physical volume control wheel.

Despite the big touch pad, multitouch gestures are still finicky, and the new look is so MacBook-like, it's like HP isn't even trying to pretend otherwise.

HP's Envy line has always been a reliable high-end PC laptop line, and this new redesign adds some useful features, such as a volume wheel, while keeping the upscale look and feel.

HP Envy 15 (late 2011) review

Six years after the introduction of the MacBook Pro, it appears the PC industry has finally realized that Apple was onto something. With laptops like the Dell XPS 15z and Samsung Series 7 Chronos,...

Rock-solid aluminum construction ; Excellent audio for a laptop ; Optional 1080p Radiance display is sharp, colorful

Quirky touchpad with stiff buttons ; Average battery life ; No Blu-ray option ; Unabashed copy of the MacBook Pro

HP's latest machine still envies Apple, but it's to be envied by fellow PCs

HP Envy 15-3040nr Laptop Review

The Radiance Notebook. What makes this high-end multimedia laptop

Excellent workmanship and stability; Sleek design; Gorgeous IPS display; Fast 7200RPM HDD; Fast CPU performance; Excellent analog volume control; Easy access to RAM/HDD/motherboard

Inaccurate color reproduction (IPS only); Extreme screen glare; Hindered AMD 7690M GPU; Permanently active fans; Hard-to-click touchpad; Tight spacing of ports, no VGA/eSATA; Average battery life

MacBook Pro 2011, Acer Travelmate 5744Z, HP Pavilion dv7-6c07eg, Envy 17 3D 2012, Acer Aspire 5755G, MSI GT780DX.

HP Envy 15-1000 Laptop

As the name suggests, the HP Envy laptop range is at the top of the pecking order in the HP line-up and it is designed to inspire desire and admiration in every way.

Consumer review (cnet.com)

"Great balance between laptop and workstation/gameing."

Love the laptop at the price, looks and feels like a boutique system. all in all its a 9 out of 10 for me...

Fast, I can play every game I have loaded, Photoshop CD5 Loves the ATI graphics card, Sound and Display are amazing. 5 plus hours on Intel Graphics and about 2 plus hours with the ATI cranked up all the way.

Reinstalling is a pain, you must use HP's drives to get the most from the hardware. There are a few areas where things just don't line up perfect. Track pad works but the buttons are a part of the pad and resting your thumb on the button is haphazard.

"Not good, I wonder if the reviewers even tried using it"

This is a mid to high end computer and my wife's 2 year old Dell out performs it on adobe CS5.5 Design prem. I would not recommend this computer because of both the color red being off and the fact that even after clean installs it freezes up multiple...

It's pretty and the specs ought to make it even more appealing.

Freezes up constantly, even with a fresh windows 7 install. The graphics should be able to play any game but it cannot even play simple games. CS5.5 is worthless as well.

good laptop, however...

Good replacement for a desktop.

Decent graphics, cooling system ,screen (wow!), sound, great look

The hdd failed the first week of use. Replacement was delivered ultra-fast (after chat with customer care, the next morning the new hdd arrived) ; Trackpad -- awful. My 300$ Acer Aspire one is million times better ; The volume knob is a good idea,...

HP ENVY 15-3040NR

Quality is essential in order to produce a premium product. keep that in mind HP!!

Good graphics, specs and features. Screen problem (Red/Orange) is not an issue unless your some sort of a artist. Hard disk had to be replaced once, HP support was really quick about it which was good. Sound quality is one of the best ive ever heard...

Hard disk failed once but was replaced free of charge under warranty. HP could have done a better job with such a premium laptop. How can such a large company forget to oversee quality control

HP ENVY 15-3040nr Notebook PC

I see a lot of one-two line reviews here, with people giving the envy top marks. Almost makes me think that I got a bad unit.

HP ENVY 15-3040nr Notebook PC

I used my Envy to play music, burn CDs, and surf the web. It has incredible "wow" type of sound. It is very easy to use, fast, and nimble. My Envy sounds much better than my Macbook Pro. I wish it was all aluminum as I am not a fan the black top cover....
