HP Pavilion dm4 review

Sit back and sprinkle a few new processors into its Pavilion line up? Nope, that's exactly what HP didn't do this year when it came to refreshing its

Striking new design ; Affordable price ; Great chiclet keyboard

Very flaky touchpad ; Poor viewing angles ; Lots of preloaded crapware

HP Pavilion dm4 Beats Edition: Great Sound and Style at a Reasonable Price

The HP Pavilion dm4 Beats Edition does a lot for a little. The moderately priced laptop boasts sturdy, striking design, powerful speakers, a generous allotment of external ports, good battery life, and an Intel Core i5 processor. It's not perfect in...

Loud, clear audio with subwoofer ; Aesthetically pleasing, sturdy, low-profile design

Trackpad's poor response ; Poor gaming experience

Though lacking in graphics performance, the HP dm4 Beats Edition features great design and sound at a good starting price.

HP Pavilion dm4-3090se Beats Edition review: HP Pavilion dm4-3090se Beats Edition

HP Pavilion dm4-3090se Beats Edition

The ; is a sharp-looking black 14-inch laptop with a hybrid hard drive, a high-res matte display, a very cool red-backlit keyboard, and a subwoofer.

Starting at only $150 less than the all-metal HP Envy, the dm4 has a plastic body parts of which feel cheap in comparison. With thin, lightweight laptops popping up everywhere, it's a bit hefty, and the touch pad can be finicky.

The only real knock against this chic-looking 14-inch multimedia laptop is its plastic body; other than that, this is a great midrange laptop with a unique, eye-catching design.

HP Pavilion dm4-2180us (Office Depot)

As far as mainstream laptops go, the HP Pavilion dm4-2180us is a powerful one, and with a battery that lasts well over seven hours.

Smooth aluminum design. Intel Core i5 CPU and 6GB of RAM is a powerful combination. WiDi 2.0 wirelessly streams your PC's content to your HDTV. Over 7 hours of battery life. Fingerprint reader.

Lacks a discrete graphics chip.

HP Pavilion dm4-2165dx

There's little to complain about with the HP Pavilion dm4-2165dx laptop, but competitors offer more power for a similar price.

Intel Core i3 processor. Big 640GB hard drive. WiDi 2.0. Comes with basic Adobe software. Durable and attractive aluminum chassis. Battery will get you through an 8 hour workday. Fingerprint reader.

Can't top better-equipped competitors.

HP Pavilion dm4-1253cl

Armed with over 6 hours of battery life and a Core i5 CPU, the HP Pavilion dm4-1253cl is made for the road, as long as gaming is not involved.

Lightest in class. Fast hard drive. Top-of-the-line Core i5 processor. Excellent battery life.

Lacks a good graphics component. Clickpad still needs refinement. Underwhelming 3D and Photoshop test scores.
