HP SlateBook x2 review: HP takes on ASUS with a dockable Android tablet

Until now, ASUS hasn't had much competition in dockable Android tablets. Sure, we've seen the odd model from Lenovo and other companies, but for the most

Fast, stable performance ; Tablet is lightweight ; Comfortable typing experience ; Price includes the keyboard dock

Awkwardly placed buttons ; Mediocre battery life ; Finicky touchpad ; Dim screen

This dockable Android tablet offers a comfortable keyboard dock and fast performance for a reasonable price. Just beware of the trade-offs before taking the plunge.

Review: HP overreaches and underdelivers with the SlateBook x2

It's a tablet, it's a laptop, it's a disappointment any way you use it.

Lots of ports ; Small and portable

Apps crash randomly ; Case is easy to scratch

HP would have been better off just making either a laptop or a tablet; as a hybrid of the two, the SlateBook x2 offers the worst of both worlds without most of the benefits. As a tablet it doesn’t have enough going for it to stand as a viable choice...

HP SlateBook x2 review

The HP SlateBook x2 is a "woulda, coulda, shoulda" Android tablet that doesn't quite justify its $480 price tag.

The HP SlateBook x2 tablet includes a physical keyboard hub, dual batteries, full USB and HDMI ports, and two storage expansion slots.

The screen has a constant yellowish tint, apps take their time to load, the keyboard is cramped, and the tablet's ridges are distracting when you attempt to hold it in one hand. The price feels high given what you get overall, and there's no GPS hardware.

Though it boasts plenty of ports and a physical keyboard, the SlateBooks x2's offerings don't quite match its $480 price.

HP SlateBook x2

HP makes a strong attempt at a proper convertible with the SlateBook x2, a screaming-fast, Tegra 4-powered Android tablet, but it's not without flaws.

Very fast quad-core processor. Sharp screen resolution. Comfy keyboard. Useful convertible design. Two memory card slots.

Dim display. Short battery life. Not exceptionally lightweight. Buggy.

Review HP SlateBook x2 10-h010nr Tablet

Handy detachable. The 10.1-inch SlateBook x2 joins the 11.6-inch Envy x2 and 13.3-inch Split x2 as one of HP's key products in the detachable notebook category. It is also the least expensive model of the x2 series at a starting price of $480 and is...

Powerful hardware and responsive software; Bright IPS glass display; Dense 1920 x 1200 resolution; Good build quality; HDMI 1.4, SD and microSD; Extra-wide touchpad; Dual batteries; Lightweight; Low starting price

No local USB port on tablet; Only one USB port available; Locking mechanism could have been more firm; MicroSD slot is hidden when attached to keyboard dock; All-around plastic; Poor keyboard travel and feedback; No keyboard backlight and small arrow...

Excellent performance and well-made hardware for a mainstream device. The pre-installed HP software are minimal and can actually be useful instead of simple bloatware.

HP SlateBook x2 review

HP SlateBook x2 is a part of the hybrid tablet family of HP Slate series and it sports the speedy Tegra 4 SoC. Let's take a look if its worth the money.

The HP SlateBook x2 is a fast hybrid device and performed quite well in most of the benchmark tests. Barring the cramped keyboard, reflective screen and the below average audio experience we did not find anything missing in the device. Lack of 3G may...

HP Slatebook x2 review

HP’s rival to the Asus Transformer should be a strong contender, with a blazing fast processor and fully detachable keyboard dock. But Sophie Curtis thinks it is suffering from an identity crisis.

Meet the HP SlateBook x2, a £379 10.1-inch Android tablet that's out in August and can double up as a mini-laptop to help you get your work done on the move while also shifting to single slab mode with the click of a latch. It‘s similar in concept to...

HP has crafted itself a brilliant tablet that‘s unfortunately been bogged down by the keyboard attachment that strives to be an addition, rather than a hindrance. As a tablet, the fast and nippy HP SlateBook x2 is a decent bit of kit that we would love...
