Lenovo 3000 V200 Review

The Lenovo 3000 V200 is both powerful and affordable, making it a great choice for travelers on a budget.

Bright screen ; Instant-on multimedia button

Power port crowds a USB port

If you've been looking for a nice travel notebook that won't drain your bank account, the light, comfortable, and capable V200 fills the bill

Lenovo 3000 V200

The Lenovo 3000 V200 is a less attractive, budget version of the ThinkPad X60, yet it packs a built-in optical drive and racks up good performance numbers.

Affordable small-business laptop. Integrated optical drive. Good performance scores.

Design is a little plain. Features are ho-hum.

Lenovo 3000 V200 review: Lenovo 3000 V200

Lenovo 3000 V200

Low price; high-end components; solid performance; comfortable keyboard; wide-aspect display; integrated optical drive; solid assortment of ports and connections, including media-card reader; fingerprint reader; robust system-management and help utility.

Merely average battery life; one-year warranty inferior to some business models'; small touch pad and shallow mouse buttons; few dedicated multimedia controls.

The well-appointed Lenovo 3000 V200 offers the latest components for a competitive price, making it a smart choice for small businesses in need of a portable but feature-packed laptop.

Lenovo 3000 V200 Review

Overall the look is quite plain and isn't likely to excite buyers as much as the latest generation of light and thin business notebooks. That said, looks may not be everything since Lenovo intends to sell this to small business consumers

Solid performance thanks to Santa Rosa processor ; Excellent keyboard ; Runs very quiet and cool ; Optional web camera provides excellent image quality ; Integrated optical drive in a 12.1" form factor for a cheap price ; Built-in media card reader and...

Design is thick and “old fashioned” compared to competing 12.1" notebooks ; Touchpad is poor and buttons are springy ; Not as rugged or well built as the Lenovo ThinkPad X series notebooks ; Tipping the scales at 4.4 lbs and with a thickness of 1.3"...

The bottom of the V200 obviously doesn't feature any ports, but it does provide access to RAM upgrades

Lenovo V200 Ultraportable First Thoughts Review (Video)

The Lenovo V200 is basically the same as the proceeding V100 in terms of build and design. The rear of the V200 has a rounded shape that's different and I think fair to say stylish in its look

You can configure up to a 2.20GHz Core 2 Duo T7500 processor with the V200 and it comes with the new Intel X3100 integrated graphics solution

As a multi-purpose business notebook, the Lenovo 3000 V200 performs admirably well in almost every area. However, those after a highly portable unit are likely to find themselves a little weighed down.

Nice array of features for an ultraportable, solid performer in most areas, plain and tasteful design

Weighs more than most ultraportable units, a few minor build issues, plain and tasteful design

Lenovo 3000 V200 laptop review

The Lenovo 3000 V200 is an ultra-portable Windows Vista workhorse that costs less than a ThinkPad.

The Lenovo 3000 V200 is an impressive machine. It's not the most striking in terms of design, nor does it offer the most features in its class, but it's a great choice for small-business users unable to stretch their budget to a ThinkPad X61. The...
