Review Lenovo IdeaPad U510 Ultrabook

Stylish. Those who value style and design would not buy a rough-c

Good battery life; Energy efficient; Good speakers; Very quiet, except for the DVD; Good performance

Low brightness; Uneven illumination; Bad keyboard feedback; Noisy DVD drive; Bendable base unit; Low gaming performance with the i3; Mini VGA without adapter; Poor webcam

The lowest priced 14- and 15-inch (with DVD drive) notebooks are Acer Aspire V5-431 (from 400 Euros), V5-571PG (680 Euros) und Medion Akoya S4216 (600 Euros).

Lenovo IdeaPad U510 Ultrabook review

Thin but hardly light 15-inch notebook

The IdeaPad U510 is a large laptop and it shows the latitude given to laptop manufacturers within the Intel design spec. However, what you're getting for your money is a more powerful and bigger screened laptop than you'd otherwise get if you went tor...

Great for 6 Months

Fast machine, competitive price. Good feature set

Hard drive failed just over 6 months. Will follow up with comments regarding my experience with Lenovo's tech support

Not worth the time and money

This is the last Lenovo I will buy given their poor workmanship and moreover because of their lack of support.

The laptop looks great and when it is working it is pretty fast. I bought this on sale for 500, which is a good price relative to what they were asking (800)

The laptop is poorly made with serious design flaws. First is the mouse. Its right over the battery which causes it to move all over the place, this is a known problem among users but Lenovo doesn't recognize it as a problem so no free fix. Its not...

Lenovo U510 (59359624)

Don't spend $700+ on it. It only worth about $500.

Nice configuration (CPU, RAM, LCD...) for the price I got ($450). Fast enough for daily home use including watching HD movies ; Back-lit keyboard

Keyboard and touchpad feels horrible ; I don't see where the SSD is

BEWARE!!!

After 7 mos. the hard drive up and disappeared. After wrestling around with it, I decided to try and hook the drive up to another computer to (try to) retrieve my data. Upon pry up the keyboard (step one of actually opening it I found 4 screws no...

Aluminum casing, backlit keys, stable. Works great with win7pro. Looks sleek and sturdy

Screws were not even tightened inside! makes me think of shoddy craftsmanship and worry about what other problems may unfurl. (windows 8 stinks) Hard drive stopped working. (working now, read below)

Needs repair within 6 months

Looks nice with affordable price

Wifi doesn't work from time to time. There's a big black dot appearing on screen after about 5 months use. Trying to find the warranty info on lenovo.com but it's really confusing. Windows 8 is not user friendly

My first laptop

This is my first laptop, so I'm probably easy to impressed. I got advice from a tech genius on this laptop, so I'm confident that it will do the job for me. I do typical internet surfing and research, and some object-based website development. I store...

These aren't necessarily cons, but something of which to be aware. Windows 8 takes some getting used to. The Start screen relies on apps rather than the usual sites. Navigate from your desktop to the actual site to see the accounts you're used to...
