Lenovo G50-30 Notebook Review Update

Fan-less. Yet another laptop wants to lure potential buyers with a low price and an outstanding performance, dubbed Lenovo G50-30. A Bay Trail Celeron paired with 2 GB of working memory is apt for office and Internet applications. Will the laptop...

Decent keyboard, Good battery life, Easy maintenance and upgrade options, Always quiet operating noise, Low power consumption

Low-contrast screen, Only 12 month warranty

We have now encountered the hardware platform used in the G50-30 in multiple laptops. Like identically configured contenders, such as Asus' X551MAV-SX391B and Packard Bell's EasyNote TF71BM-C8R1, the G50-30 is also apt for basic tasks like browsing,...

Lenovo G50-30

The Lenovo G series of laptops are aimed at budget consumers, and given Lenovo's build quality it's one of the best built laptops you'll get under 30k that's for sure. Everything from the keyboard deck, trackpad, palm rest, screen hinge, and bottom...

Lenovo Laptop G50

Decent price, but required hardware upgrades to make more usable. Primary uses - some development, document creation, connection to other development environments, web surfing. Probably not ideal for gaming.

Generally good performance, runs pretty quiet. Purchased SAMSUNG 250GB SSD, cloned installation from original HDD. Upgraded memory, now has 12GB ttl. Boots quickly.

Keyboard - not great, not very responsive. Lenovo bloatware - have spent some time removing unnecessary additions, uninstalled as much Windows 10 additions that I could.

Excellent basic laptop

Great laptop, bought a 240GB OCZ SSD Drive for this as well, installed it and downloaded the Microsoft Windows 10 installer, put that on a USB stick drive and booted this up with it and installed windows 10 home, no license key needed since it has it...

Nice design Sturdy average battery life good screen good keyboard with num pad sturdy ac adapter connector optical drive Windows 10 license built in low price, under 300

AMD, but that is why it is cheap Sluggish at first, modify your power settings to "high performance"

a fully functional, but SLOW laptop

- a portable computer - clean keyboard - clean screen

- SLOW...!

Functional

-For the price it's well worth it. Won't play games, but nothing at this price will, -Would buy again,

-Over all decent performance, bought for my aging mother as a streaming media solution and even she can get around in the bios and the OS. -Good storage and decent RAM for the price, and it's up-gradable so that's a plus.

-Battery is to be desired, but like the RAM that can be upgraded.

good, inexpensive basic laptop

The comments about a poor screen seem to be unfounded. The display quality is fine. The description shows a max of 8 GB for memory. This isn't correct. This laptop can handle up to 16 GB. The keyboard isn't great, but you'll get used to it pretty...

Extremely easy to setup. Inexpensive. Lots of storage.

not enough memory. With only 4 GB of RAM, this laptop is really sluggish. Double it to 8 and you'll be oK doesn't seem to be a way to create recovery DVDs

Windows 10 is a nightmare.

Cannot recommend this to anyone due to Microsoft. Lenovo seems to be ok but Windows 10 sucks.

It powers on quickly.

Cannot use it due to constant reloading Microsoft Windows 10 updates which fail to install. Microsoft does not provide any reasonable fix for their product. Continues to reload the failed install only to use up all data allowance.

Nice laptop, good price point

Quad core, hdmi and vga out, 2 ram slots, TB hd, optical drive, and win 10 for sub $300. Newegg say's 8gb ram cap, but that's inaccurate. I upgraded to 16 (8gb x2) and it works great. I replaced the 5400 hd with an SSD no problem. It's really a zippy...

Would have liked to have AC wifi (only b/g/n), but...for under $300 can't complain. Case is plastic and has some flexibility, but not a showstopper.
