Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E420s

The Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E420s business laptop is slim, sleek, and loaded with good hardware, but its overall performance is good rather than great.

Speedy processor, hard drive. Light and strong construction. Attractive design. Comfortable keyboard. More affordable than comparable ultraportables. Long battery life. Light on bloatware.

Performance lags behind competitors.

Lenovo ThinkPad E420s Review

The ThinkPad E420s is a consumer-oriented ThinkPad with a 1-inch thin chassis, a weight of just 4 pounds, and more than 6 hours of battery life. If that isn't enough to spark your interest, it has a starting price around $700. Read our full review for...

Solid build quality ; Excellent keyboard ; Great battery life (6+ hours) ; Good design

Non-removable battery ; Low-resolution display ; No status lights ; The ThinkPad E420s represents a good value at its $799 price point. Just be aware it has limited screen options and a non-removable battery.

Review Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E420s Notebook

Brilliant performance? With the ThinkPad Edge E420s, Lenovo now has a slim notebook available that is supposed to be especially designed for SMEs. The latest hardware fused with ThinkPad qualities makes you want more. However, the high-gloss display...

Pleasant soft touch surfaces, Large touchpad and trackpoint, Convincing multimedia performance, AMD Switchable Graphics, Fast 2.5 inch hard disk, Power consumption and acceptable battery runtimes, The surfaces' high-end feel and the revised, and now...

Glossy plate in front of the screen, Instable display lid and hinges, Display brightness, contrast and black value, Unconvincing stereo speakers, Built-in battery, A higher quality display with a matt surface and the possibility of exchanging the battery

Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E420s Laptop Review

There's a time and place to act a fool, like at a Ludacris concert for example, or when entertaining your in-laws during a holiday function in which you're trying to encourage a hasty departure. Likewise, there are situations where showboating simply...

Chic design with a clean layout ; Quad-core foundation ; Dolby Home Theater v4 audio technology ; HD webcam performs well in low light situations

Lack luster gaming performance ; Difficult access to internal components

Lenovo designed the ThinkPad Edge E420s for small-to-medium business (SMB) users, and if evaluating it on those terms, the E420s proves a solid workhorse. It has plenty of horsepower to beam PowerPoint presentations to potential clients, and with its...

Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E420s review

The Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E420s would never be accused of being pretty, though it is worth noting that the ThinkPad range has come a long way since Lenovo acquired it from IBM. They're still built like tanks, though, and the E420s is built to shrug off...

The ThinkPad E420s couldn’t be much different from the excellent Lenovo IdeaPad G570. To be fair to the ThinkPad it is a very work-focused model, but the poor battery life, lack of storage space, mediocre screen and relatively high price all count...

Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E420s 14in Core i5 laptop

Review I have always been a fan of ThinkPads, ever since my father brought home a beaten 560e featuring a 150MHz Pentium which was rejected from the corporate pool due to travel abuse. Even though half of its 1GB disk was bad sectors I ran it well into...

The ThinkPad range has been typically targeted at business users, however, I can certainly see more general users adopting the Edge series, especially as the price of the business class fare edges further below the £1000 mark. This Core i5 version is...

No upgrades available

The laptop is very nice, but be forwarned - there is no way to upgrade the memory or replace the battery on this unit. The only area along the bottom that you can get to is the hard drive. I doubt I would have purchased this unit if I had known this.
