ThinkPad X61 Notebook

Though the optical drive is not integrated, everything else about this business portable is top-notch, especially battery life.

size, look, performance, everything, Extended battery life, Nice docking station

price, Optical drive not integrated, No touchpad ; eraserhead only

Our review unit, which included an UltraBase docking station with a dual-layer DVD burner, costs $1724 (as of July 27, 2007). The great performance and features, and its reasonable price, make the X61 our current top choice of ultraportable

Lenovo Thinkpad X61 Tablet

These days, convertible tablet PCs are showing up as more than just a blip on the radar. They've been widely adopted in the vertical markets, and students are embracing them. Lenovo (formerly IBM) has long been a leader in the convertible tablet PC...

Best keyboard on a tablet PC. Built tough for the road. EV-DO or HSDPA modem embedded. Fast hard drive. Best combination of performance and battery life. Nice grip on the digitizer pen

X61

In the ThinkPad X61, Lenovo has introduced its successor to the ThinkPad X60. The X61 uses Intel's Santa Rosa mobile processor. Otherwise, it's the same light, sophisticated ultraportable as the earlier model; like the X60, it lacks an integrated...

Lenovo ThinkPad X61 User Review

I was looking for a full featured laptop that had the power of a desktop in an ultra portable form factor to allow for less strain when traveling; also there was a certain amount of “wow” factor being looked for when considering which unit to get. ...

Full desktop performance in an ultraportable form factor ; Elegant design coupled with excellent rugged construction ; ThinkPad's legendary keyboard ; Availability of optional features such as Turbo Memory, WWAN connectivity, and Ultrabase

Screen is inherently difficult to view at different angles ; Sounds is a bit low ; Battery tends to give a little over time, and hibernation software not 100 percent perfect ; System comes full of bloatware

The X61 under review has the older 3945abg card, and the performance seems to be better than the newer Intel card in the T61 I have, at least in terms of finding new connections

Lenovo ThinkPad X61 Review

The X61 is a durable ultraportable computer. It shares many design characteristics with the rest of the ThinkPad line including its internal unibody structure, full-size keyboard, stainless steel display hinges, and complete port selection. The fit and...

Primary keyboard keys are full-size for easy typing ; Extremely fast ultraportable ; Lightweight, even with the 8 cell battery

The display has poor contrast and view angles ; The palm rest gets very warm from the wireless cards mounted below it ; Touchpoint made mouse drift at random times

I wasn’t able to fully test the built-in Verizon wireless WWAN card since I don’t have that service, but I did check its reception in my house. Usually cell phones barely work and cutout frequently. The X61’s antenna saw a 30% signal, and didn't seem...

Lenovo ThinkPad X61s

The ThinkPad X61s provides excellent dual-core performance in a lightweight, compact package that's still comfortable to use.

Solid performance, thanks to the latest Core 2 Duo processor, Extremely portable design, Excellent keyboard, Fingerprint reader, Easy-to-use ThinkVantage utility, Lengthy battery life with extended battery

Lacks built-in optical drive, Standard-aspect display feels outdated
