Motorola Flipout review: Motorola Flipout

Motorola Flipout

The Motorola Flipout has a roomy keyboard and a functional midrange feature set. Call quality is decent.

The Motorola Flipout's display is too small for a touch-screen smartphone. The speakerphone is disappointing, the 3G connection is unreliable, and camera editing options are few.

The Motorola Flipout exceeds on some levels, but its unique design doesn't do it any favors as a touch-screen smartphone.

Motorola Flipout Review

The Motorola Flipout is a breath of fresh air when it comes to the design of smartphones. Having a 2.8 inch touchscreen with a full QWERTY keyboard that rotates, or 'flips out' is an innovate way to bring the Flipout to life. Outside of the unique...

The Motorola Flipout, for all intents and purposes is an 'average' phone in the competetive market of phones. Not the most powerful Android powered device, but also not the worst. It has all the features, though slightly on the lower end and has the...

Motorola FlipOut

Odd looking but stylish about it, pocket-worthy as all get out and sporting a surprise twist, Motorola's latest Android phone has social media mojo to spare.

Though aptly dubbed the FlipOut, Motorola's latest smartphone can function just as a touch-screen device with the best of them. Perhaps that's not saying much, but its on-screen keyboard and multi-touch, swipe and scroll interface is totally usable...

Motorola Flipout: Accidentally Backflipped!

If you frowned while reading through the review, get ready for the final blow. The Flipout is priced at Rs. 15,999 which is terribly expensive for an outdated OS that cannot be upgraded, mediocre features and an otherwise standard smartphone. On paper,...

Motorola Flipout

Everything good about the Flipout is attributable to Google's Android and not Motorola. The handset design is novel but is more focused on style than the way we use our phones.

Android 2.1 OS ; Interchangeable battery covers ; Decent battery life

Low quality display ; Cramped QWERTY keyboard ; Sometimes sluggish processing

Motorola FlipOut Review

The concept of the Motorola FlipOut is most definitely an odd one. We have had sliding Qwerty handsets for years now and this one just kind of warps the traditional style a wee bit. As you would have seen in Matt's demo video the...

QWERTY Keypad ; Android 2.1 ; Homescreen customisation ; Changeable back covers

Screen size and resolution ; Feels odd in the hand when closed ; Camera Quality

Motorola Flipout review

Motorola's latest Android smartphone joins the small but growing band of devices that eschews the big screen approach that currently dominates the market in favour of true pocketability. The Flipout is not quite the smallest device we've seen – that's...

The Flipout is very much what you might class as a ‘young person’s’ phone. It runs Android 2.1 but the UI is dominated by Motorola's own Motoblur software for messaging. This will grab your social networking updates and enable IM functionality and so...

Motorola Flipout review

Motorola's Flipout is certainly going to generate some very mixed opinions, but the manufacturer is hoping that it will appeal to a youthful market that want to be different.

Android 2.1 OS, highly usable keyboard, fast 720MHz processor and ample operating memory, innovative battery and data saving options.

Low-resolution display, disappointing camera and awful video capture resolution, plus a controversial design.

With other similarly priced smartphones (namely £150 or less) having similar resolution screens, the Flipout isn't any worse than its peers. Besides the camera, you're still getting a lot of bang for your buck — but the design won't suit all tastes.
