Review MSI CR620 Notebook

Basic office. Just €500 can get you access to the world of the 2010 Intel Core processors. A Core i3 in a basic laptop makes it possible. But is it a convincing lighter option, or just another bargain basement laptop? Delete Free-DOS and you're ready...

Good application performance, Quiet hard drive, Cool case, Ports stationed on the back, Low energy consumption, Ports on the back of the machine. We didn’t think that laptop manufacturers still remembered their roots

Poor workmanship, Weak input devices, Glossy screen, Poor screen contrast, Weak battery life

MSI CR620 notebook

An afforable 16in desktop replcement MSI notebook that's good for most tasks

Good performance, big palm rest, comfortable to use, number pad, HDMI, eSATA

Screen too reflective, weak graphic performance, some keys are located in awkward, non-standard positions

MSI's CR620 is a large, 16in desktop replacement notebook that's perfect for most office tasks and browsing the Web. Thanks to its Core i3 CPU, it's also powerful enough to undertake video editing and encoding functions. It has a useful array of ports...

MSI CR620

MSI manages to prove with its CR620 that budget isn't necessarily a bad thing when it comes to laptops.

Good value for money ; HDMI and VGA connectivity ; Number pad

Poor battery life ; Most ports are at rear of laptop

At a retail price of AU$999, the CR620 is great value for those looking at an entry-level Windows 7-capable laptop with a wide array of connectivity options, although it is a shame to see its portability going to waste as a result of the short battery...

MSI CR620 (Core i5)

MSI's CR620 is decent. It manages to cram Core i5 into the sub-AU$1000 bracket, something we haven't seen before. Though the battery life could be better, and the choice of 32-bit Windows is just plain odd.

Core i5 for under AU$1000 ; Good connectivity ; Great value

32-bit Windows ; 100Mb Ethernet ; Battery life could be better

MSI CR620

Sports Intel's latest Core i3 processor

Lightweight for a 15-incher, easy to use chiclet keyboard, good quality screen, decent webcam quality, two-year warranty

Majority of ports at the back, left-right mouse buttons hard to click, jarring of speakers at maximum volume, 32-bit OS despite having 4GB RAM

Slower than peanut butter

I got out an old Dell laptop from 2003, and noted that besides the old OS on the dell, it ran circles around my 'nice, new' msi. this thing is a piece of junk.

Looks pretty

Ever since we got this computer, we had problems with it. The BIOS was incredibly lacking, and the boot time was upwards of 90 seconds-- unacceptable for any modern computer. The scale finally flipped yesterday, with it blue screening four times, and...
