Nvidia’s RTX cards bring massive power and prices to gaming laptops

Ray tracing and DLSS arrive on laptops.

Capable of playing AAA games at ultra settings with ray tracing enabled ; One of the lightest 17-inch gaming laptops ; Great display ; Plethora of ports

Lackluster keyboard ; Eye-watering price ; Parts of keyboard can get noticeably warm ; Speaker grille flex

There will be many more RTX-equipped laptops coming out this year, across a variety of price points and spec levels. We’ll be looking at each one in turn to find the best balance of price, performance, portability, and versatility, so stay tuned for more.

MSI GS75 Stealth

With a spiffy thin design, lots of pep for 1080p gaming, and surprising battery life, MSI's GS75 Stealth is a solid early entry in the GeForce RTX gaming-laptop stakes.

Thin and light for a 17-incher. Attractive aesthetic. Greater-than-90fps gaming performance. 144Hz screen. Good battery life for class. Ports include USB Type-C with Thunderbolt 3.

Performance very similar to top non-Max-Q Pascal GPUs. Display only full HD. No G-Sync support. 512GB drive a tad tight for gaming.

Bottom Line: With a spiffy thin design, lots of pep for 1080p gaming, and surprising battery life, MSI's GS75 Stealth is a solid early entry in the GeForce RTX gaming-laptop stakes.
