Review MSI Megabook GX620 Notebook

MSI on the Fast Lane.It hasn't been all too long ago that we test

Very good stability thanks to the magnesium/aluminum case; Cool temperatures; Extensive connectivity; good value for money; Magnetic closure; Turbo feature

Jam-packed keyboard; Keyboard bends under pressure; Very low display brightness; Sound quality of the loudspeakers; Very sensitive for fingerprints despite rough surface

Altogether, one can give the Megabook GX620 a good mark, if one accepts the fact of the somewhat poor display brightness. The offered performance is right, just like the gaming potential, as well as the workmanship and the price. The extensive...

MSI GX620 gaming notebook

The MSI GX620 is a gaming notebook -- and it certainly looks like it

Good speed, HDMI, eSATA, turbo mode is effective

Only three USB 2.0 ports, keyboard isn't great, screen looks dull

The MSI GX620 is adequate for gaming, but it's probably better suited to a casual (rather than hardcore) gamer who is looking for a desktop replacement notebook. It will run current games but not at a high detail level. Its overall performance is good...

MSI GX620 review

The W, A, S and D keys and the number pad's 8,4,6 and 2 keys all have arrows printed on them to remind you that they can be used to control your character while gaming. The big vent and clearly visible heat sink on the right side are indicators that...

MSI GX620 review

MSI's GX620 has an attractive design with a red strip around the edge. There's hardly any flex in the lid, and build quality is sturdy. A spring-loaded mechanism snaps the lid into place.

MSI GX620 - Centrino 2 Update of The Flaming Avenger

It may have been Christmas, but we've still been busy working away on our reviews, and we're spicing up these cold days and nights with a great review of the MSI GX620.

Total experience ; Display ; Impressive processor performance

Lack of 3G

The MSI GX620 is a handsome Centrino 2 update of The Flaming Avenger. Here, even owners of the old model would benefit from an upgrade. There is plenty of power in the new processors from Intel, and the new 9600M display adapters from Nvidia.

For on-the-go gameplayers

The MSI GX620 is being pitched as a gaming notebook but functions great as a multimedia machine as well.

Nice large keyboard ; good screen ; relatively portable for a gaming machine ; Blu-ray drive

Notebook design could do with a bit of work

One thing it has going for it however, is that once its gaming life is over in about a year or so, it can still function as a pretty good Blu-ray player.

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Great laptop for the price

this laptop is much more preferable to a comprably priced HP, in terms of aesthetics. I do wish it had a few more frills, but i haven't encountered any shortcomings. The trackpad is centered to the left, which seems to surprise people, but it doesn't...

Incredibly fast processor, spacious 4GB of memory, powerful Graphics card. The turbo button works perfectly under Windows 7, as do the webcam, bluetooth, wireless, and eco touch buttons, as well as the programmable key ; The number pad is a blessing ;...

The media touch buttons only work when the media player is in the foreground, unless you use windows media player (they work regardless of whether the application is in the foreground) ; The right shift key is WAY too tiny, it takes a while to get used...

Good for the price

The cons are mostly small stuff, but they are still worth noting. What made me buy this was the rebate and the 3year warranty once registering. Once the driver and hardrive space issues are resolved, this laptop is great.

Nice touch functions ; Numpad included ; Dolby Sound is neat ; Plenty of power ; I like the design ; Came with a bookbag ; Solid build ; Great value

The OS install on the C drive is too small (40gb or so with a 20gb OS on it) so I had to reinstall it to make the size bigger while shrinking the D drive ; Should have came with a 64bit OS since it has 4gigs of ram ; Mediocre (battery life, viewing...
