Well worth it

The DVD drive has a very large button and I always seem to hit it causing the tray to open. The touch buttons are neat, but you can mistakenly turn off/on something that you didn't want in the first place. Others have said something about the Power...

1. Brushed finished. I really hate finger print magnets. If any finger prints do manage to get on the laptop they gave you a nice screen-wipe ; 2. I can play all my games on "High" CS:S, Battlefield 2, Battlefield Heroes... Haven't had time to install...

1. The right shift key it a bit too small for my liking ; 2. The Fn and Ctrl keys on the left should be switched around I feel ; 3. Windows Vista 32x Home Premium ; 4. Only three USB ports

Bucci Say...

ok ok, IT DOES run a LITTLE hot. but thats a laptop thing, they all run hot, from what ive seen anyway. if its a huge problem, Newegg sells nice cooling pads for pretty good prices. go for it. Nice backpack too.

This laptop (as im sure you've read in other reviews) has what is considered by most to be the best hardware for the money, for the simple consumer looking for a simple review, they're quite right ; However, I don't think it necessary to re-invent the...

CONS. Lets do the obvious ; Fingerprints! there I said it. the fingerprint magnet sucks. Its unfortunate but the laptop DOES come with a handy dandy wipe rag, so no worries ; ok, more obviousness, the touchpad blows hard. I oftentimes rest my hand...

Can't beat it for the price

The included backpack is actually a pretty nice one. Plenty of room for the laptop, power wart, mouse, and tons of other junk to take to your buddy's house for weekend LAN games. ;)

Good CPU performance, good GPU for a laptop, decent amount of RAM. Overall, this laptop is a great gaming laptop for anything less than $1200. Do the research, and you'll see mostly raving reviews for this thing. Hooked up to a 42" HDTv via the HDMI...

It can get a little hot, but easily remedied by making sure there's enough air flow around the right-hand back-side, or getting a laptop cooler. It will blow hot air onto your hand if you mouse near that vent, but better the hot air is outside than inside

Great machine

I love this machine. I don't play games too much but I do watch movies in HD and I play a few games every once in awhile. It can handle pretty much anything you throw at it. Also you can get an external blu ray drive for 100 bucks and have an HD...

Big screen, performance, flashy looks, can play HD content no problem

Short battery life. Can't think of anything else

despite the fact that the cons seem to be a lot, the pros still outweigh the cons greatly. this is a great laptop and i love it! and considering how it's priced, the cons don't take away at all. you get what you pay for (though in this case you're...

runs fast ; not much bloatware (if any really) ; speakers sound great ; screen looks great, and is more than big enough (movies and games look really good) ; 4 usb ports (when you include the e-sata port) ; numpad is useful (i've already used it many...

fingerprint magnet!!! (if you're somewhat ocd about that kind of thing, it'll drive you crazy) ; runs hot when playing games like CoD4 (though i've noticed most of the heat comes from the CPU heat pipe and very little from the GPU heat pipe). though it...

You get your money's worth!

People who want long battery life are advisd to get a stronger battery. Other people mention the heat generated from the machine - this hasn't been a problem for me. The CPU will, however, get quite hot in Turbo mode so plan accordingly. All in all:...

Great features for the money ; CPU and graphics card can run most games, including CoD4 and Bioshock without any issues at top settings. It will handle any movies or graphics software that you install. Sound and picture quality are great

No volume control on the exterior of the machine. Touchpad is quite sensitive and may accidentally 'click' without you realizing it ; (Thankfully only minor issues!)

gpu clock

DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. I have flashed my BIOS several times so I know its safe... but there is always a risk that your computer may crash or your house will collapse on the laptop while flashing and you will have an unusable card!

Matthew: you are correct, the video card is downclocked, but there is a way to overclock the video card ; In GPU-Z, there is a button to the right of "BIOS Version" under the "Graphics Card" tab. This button will allow you to create a copy of the video...

(Cont) ; window and browse to where you extracted winflash too. Now click "Analyze", wait for it to finish, then click "Flash BIOS". The flashing should take anywhere from 10-20 seconds. Once done flashing, reboot the laptop and check GPU-Z to see you...

Followup Review

Someone once said that MSI stood for Missing Something Inside, and yet again in this case they were right. Do yourself a favor and avoid this laptop at all costs. ASUS and Acer both make excellent true Puma laptops and do not withhold information to...

See previous review

Upon further inspection with GPU-Z, the graphics card runs at 479/594 (core/memory), whereas ATI's reference specifications say the card should run at 580/750. This is 20% slower than ATI reference specs. I contacted MSI about this issue to find out if...

Not a true Puma laptop

If I had been told this laptop did not support PowerXpress before I bought it then I would not have, as there are other true Puma laptops. I should have known not to buy anything from MSI after my last experience with them, a MSI Radeon HD 4850, which...

17 inch screen, full keyboard (though cramped), aluminum body, 4.1 speakers, HD 3850 graphics, AMD processor able to OC to 2.6ghz. Good price

NOT, I repeat NOT capable of PowerXpress, the noted feature of the Puma platform which allows switching off the discrete graphics card to the IGP in real time to extend battery life for 1 hour or more, which results in only 2 hours of battery life. I...

Bechmarks (using turbo):

Great price for an HD 800-series card (for laptops). The Wireless card connects to my wireless-N router through two floors. The screen is crisp and clear, black is actually black. Lots of aluminum

The memory seems to be a little on the slow side
