MSI VR630 review

For less than £500, it's now quite possible to find a fully featured, full-size laptop. We tried the MSI VR630, a 16in display model with 2GHz processor and 250GB of storage. And at less than 2.5kg, it shouldn't break your shoulder either.

At a price of £480 or less, the MSI VR630 provides plenty of laptop for not too much money. Its dual-core processor is fast enough to get work done, there’s a useful amount of RAM ready fitted, and 250GB of storage is not to be sniffed at. Providing...

MSI EX-630

I look for used Notebooks all the time. I have not found one of these models. My guess is because they fell under the 3 year warranty which was changed by MSI. In order to get the 3 year warranty you have to purchase a high-end model. This one should...

Bought when you could still get 36 months warranty. Pretty fast even though it comes with Vista. Got it at a nice price. $650. & like I said 3 year warranty. Also has Draft-N so it's all ready for newer wifi. Unlike most notebooks, this model has a...

I don't like the partition on the C:\, I think it had about 90% full from jump street but most notebooks come that way ; When you are scrolling over things, it will open anything up. I'll be on a website & all of a sudden I'm on a different page just...

Warranty void on delivery + cooling fan issue

If I could rate Newegg customer service I would give it a "0" for extremely poor service, but I'm rating the product here. Great laptop overall. I am dual-booting Vista and Ubuntu. Works great using both OSes out of the box. Also, on the right side...

Nice look and sleek design. Touchpad can be disabled so it doesn't get in the way of your typing. Did I mention shiny? Speakers are pretty good, not super impressive. Fairly strong magnets keep the laptop closed, so no poorly designed latch to break....

The warranty sticker on both of the laptops (same model) was cut when I received it. Lot's of phone calls to Newegg and a few months later, Newegg won't accept an RMA (though I was told by the first agent I spoke with that they would)! This wouldn't be...

Good yet outdated

Maybe a cooler would help this computer?

1. Great sound with Subwoofer, not like Bose though ; 2. Touch enabled controls ; 3. Nice software for Web Cam and Tv Tuner with Windows Media Center

1. Graphics play Oblivion in poor setting. Could get better graphics for a little more green ; 2. HD video is laggy. Maybe something i could fix with drivers but no problem for my desktop ; 3. Seems to get hot, not real bad though

Great for the price

The DVD writer is not the fastest, but it is very quiet, so, take it or leave it. The X54 slot is not backwards compatible with other PCI (the rectangular stuff) hardware, which is fine, except I had some hardware that used the other slot, still, not a...

Has more than what's listed, some things it has that will be of interest that were not given in the spec but are in the laptop: firewire, an SD card reader, an X54 slot, wired ethernet (in addition to wireless), dial-up modem, fingerprint scanner...

the CD/DVD drive read/write indicator light is on the drive itself, meaning you have to turn the laptop to the side to be able to see it, not a big deal, but worth noting. Linux wireless support seems spotty and very recent (drivers might still be...

I purchased two of these and I just noticed that the sticker on the bottom that reads Warranty Void If Seal Broken. Well both seals are cut down the center. If anyone else has this problem better get in touch with newegg & MSI.

MSI EX630

I purchased 4 Acer Aspire 6530's in May 09. 64 & 32 bit systems. I purchased 2 of these Laptop's [June 09] The sound seems better on the Acers, but they did not come with a Driver disc. The Acers are nice but they are finger print grabbers, MSI has a...

USB ports are not put side by side, well spaced. Has both VGA & HDMI ports. Touch Pad works really well. Key Board works great. E-SATA port is a plus. Comes with a 3 year warranty. Over all this MSI Laptop is a great value for $600. MSI website is...

Did not come with a Windows disc. Sound could use a bit more volume. Trial Ver. of Microsoft Office. Comes with 60 day trial of Nortons. But I removed both of them before I made my Recovery Disc's [I don't like Norton & have Office on disc]. Battery...
