MSI X420

The MSI X420 packs a decently powerful punch into a slim, sexy ultraportable chassis. The laptop features a CULV (Consumer Ultra-Low Voltage) Intel Core 2 Duo processor and a discrete graphics card, along with an easy two-button system of switching...

Discrete graphics card ; Great trackpad

Not powerful enough for high-intensity gaming ; No optical drive

The MSI X420 packs a lot into a pretty package. While it's not quite a gaming notebook, it delivers some great high-def video.

MSI X-Slim X420

The MSI X-Slim X420 is super-thin and battery-efficient, but it sacrificed too much of its speed in the process.

Thin and light. Very good battery life. Switchable graphics with an ATI and Intel chipset. Comfortable keyboard. Very good touchpad and mouse combo.

CULV processor is based on older technology. Miserable speed scores. 32-bit operating system couldn't take full advantage of the 4GB of RAM.

The MSI X-Slim X420 packs a lot in a small, lightweight package. Even though it's not quite the multimedia powerhouse we were hoping for, it's a great deal for anyone looking for a basic, stylish laptop with the occasional 3D graphics support.
