Service and support

NEC Versa LitePad Tablet PC

Thinnest, lightest tablet available; integrated dual-band wireless; includes stand, keyboard, and mouse; comes with CD-ROM; lots of software.

Small display; few configuration options; cables everywhere in desktop mode; no modem; lackluster performance and battery life.

Mobile workers will appreciate the Versa LitePad's ultrathin and lightweight design, but its performance is merely mediocre.

NEC Versa P9210-2500DR

Big, powerful and well-equipped

Good performance, Blu-ray player, HDMI port, eSATA port, excellent network connectivity

Keyboard can be difficult to use, viewing angle is limited, heavy

The NEC Versa P9210-2500DR offers great performance and excellent connectivity at a reasonable price. If you can stand the large size, heavy weight and occasional typing difficulties, then this device should make you very happy.

NEC Versa P8310-2402DR

Very attractive design, good variety of connections, good value

Some keys are not large enough for efficient use, screen is fairly reflective in outdoor situations

The NEC Versa P8310-2402DR is an appealing choice for users who want an attractive and well-performing notebook. While it suffers from usability issues, such as a slightly cramped keyboard and a screen that can be excessively reflective, the benefits...

NEC Versa P9120 (2401DR)

Very fast, Blu-ray player, digital TV tuner, good speakers

Webcam and digital TV tuner drivers had to be installed manually, remote can't fully control the Blu-ray player's software interface, cramped palm rest

A powerful desktop replacement notebook, which doubles as a media centre with a Blu-ray player. It needs some refinement, but as it stands, it's a functional unit for productivity applications and entertainment endeavours.

NEC Versa E6310 (2204DR)

HDMI, dual-function touchpad

Poor viewing angle on the screen

The E6310's improvements over the last iteration are grand, and it's quite competitive among other notebooks at this price range, too. If you're after a machine capable of dealing with both aspects of your daily life then look no further.

NEC Versa E6210

Leather-clad lid

Viewing angle on screen, soft speakers

The NEC Versa E6210 looks nice and is a good size for those on the road. The battery life didn't impress us, but will be fine for the casual user, as will the performance of this machine.

NEC VERSA P8210

Good general and multimedia performance. Superb audio subsystem. Firewire port. DVI and S-Video outputs. 4-in-1 card reader. Bundled remote control. Keyboard, track pad and mouse buttons are comfortable to use.

Hardcore gamers will want something more powerful. Keyboard isn't full-size. No quick-launch buttons. Irritating glossy screen and screen border.

A speedy mid-to-high-end multimedia notebook with just a handful of minor flaws.

NEC Versa P7300 (2100DR)

Good range of connections, attractive and simple design, solid battery life

Integrated graphics chip, reflectivity issues, undersized keyboard

The Versa P7300 (2100DR) is a solid entry into the all-purpose notebook market, especially if you're not into gaming. While slightly let down by its graphics performance, it offers plenty of functionality for the price.

Consumer review (epinions.com)

The ultimate portable - comfy to hold like a notepad, useful as a pc.

I walked around 8 hours a day for a week holding this thing and never got tired of filling forms, taking notes and doing other things one does at a trade show. When I first heard of tablets, I thought "huh"? Why not just stick with a laptop? The ...
