Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus review

With the ATIV Book 9 Plus, Samsung can still lay claim to one of the best Ultrabooks on the market. As ever, it offers an attractive design and fast performance, but battery life is improved, and the 3,200 x 1,800 display is best in class.

Super-thin, well-made ; Gorgeous 3,200 x 1,800 display ; Good battery life, runs cool ; Excellent audio quality

Trackpad could still use some fine-tuning ; Relatively slow I/O speeds ; Logos painted onto the device ; One configuration

Samsung already had the best Ultrabook on the market, and it's managed to stay on top in 2013, even as its competitors have improved battery life and performance on their own models. Like its predecessor, the ATIV Book 9 Plus is impressively thin, with...

Samsung Ativ Book 9 Plus review: A high-res, high-price ultrabook

A 3,200x1,800-pixel-resolution touch screen elevates the Book 9 Plus above its laptop competition in the Windows 8 world.

The ; laptop has a sturdy, slim design, ultra-high-res touch screen, and really good battery life.

Costs several hundred more than we’d prefer; shrunken HDMI port; doesn’t convert to a tablet form -- strictly a laptop.

If you’re just looking for an all-around excellently made Windows touch ultrabook and don’t mind that it's on the expensive side (and doesn’t convert to a tablet), the improved Samsung Ativ Book 9 Plus is worth the investment.

Look Sharp

Samsung's ATIV Book laptops don't go up to 10. They start at the ATIV Book 2 and they go up to the ATIV Book 9. But if you want one louder, you do have an option: The ATIV Book 9 Plus . Bargain-seekers can stop reading right now. At $1,400, the ATIV...

Touchscreen’s extreme brightness outmatched only by its resolution. Category-busting battery life. Solid performance, stability. Great design

Expensive, especially with these specs. Weak keyboard. Outer lid attracts fingerprints. Not sure what to do with this embarrassment of pixels

Samsung Ativ Book 9 Plus review

Two years ago, Samsung's Series 9 represented a sea change. It was one of the lightest, thinnest, best-looking laptops ever made, and Samsung made it powerful too. It was the first ultrabook to be...

Beautiful chassis ; Attractive, high-res display ; Solid performance ; Good keyboard

Still too much design clutter ; Trackpad has a few quirks ; Battery life is only average

A great Windows laptop, but nothing truly sets it apart

Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus

The Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus goes toe to toe with the best premium ultrabooks, then tops it off with a jaw-dropping high-resolution display.

High-resolution display boasts 3,200-by-1,800 resolution and 10-finger touch. Slim lightweight design. Premium materials. Fourth-generation Intel Core i5 processor and 128GB solid-state drive keep things speedy. Long battery life. Dual-band Wi-Fi....

Limited storage capacity. Marquee software options have limited appeal. Dongles for VGA and HDMI not included.

Conclusion In terms of performance and battery life, the Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus is in line with other premium ultrabooks, both in performance scores and pricing. What the Book 9 Plus offers that others do not, however, is a higher-than-HD screen that...

Samsung Ativ Book 9 Plus review

Take a beautiful Windows ultrabook design. Add a super-high-resolution touch screen and longer-battery-life Intel Haswell processor. What could be wrong with that?

The Ativ Book 9 Plus laptop has a sturdy, slim design, ultra-high-res touch screen, and really good battery life.

Costs several hundred more than we’d prefer; shrunken HDMI port; doesn’t convert to a tablet form -- strictly a laptop.

Review Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus 940X3G Ultrabook

Pixel frenzy. Retina is a thing of the past. Samsung stirs up the competition with a sensational QHD+ screen and even beats the MacBook series from Apple. Comprised of an energy-efficient Haswell CPU, 4 GB of RAM and a 128 GB SSD, the ATIV Book 9 Plus...

First-rate casing rigidness and build; Outstanding input devices; Tremendous screen resolution; Viewing angle stable PLS screen; Good application performance; Low noise development; Long battery runtimes; Easy-to-clean fan; Strong speakers

Screen's glossy surface; Middling web cam quality; No display port; High price
