Toshiba Satellite T215D-S1140RD

Better-than-Netbook performance; solid keyboard; good selection of ports for its size.

Unimpressive battery life; for a nearly $500, may not offer the CPU horsepower one might expect.

An update to last year's T115, the Toshiba Satellite T215D-S1140RD performs like a slightly larger, faster Netbook with better specs and ports. It's definitely a step up, but it may not be enough computer for those with higher expectations.

I like to stream video through my laptop & watch it on my big flatscreen TV. That was why I thought the S215D would be perfect for work & play. The unit's HDMI port meant having to use one cord rather than multiple cables to attach my laptop to my TV...

Excellent mix of speed and portability. I really like the DDR3 memory, and it has a max of 8GB

Toshiba apparently doesnt make them with a WWAN or bluetooth option, even though there is a mini PCI-e slot and a sim card reader

very good

 

did a fresh install right out of the box, and i'm running ubuntu and it runs smooth had very few complaints, small and light, screen is bright, crisp, and clear. for the most part, its been great, and really everything i expected. runs fast and so far...

a little laggy with some hd video but i think with the 2gigs of ram that will be fixed. and the battery power is short. not really a complaint though because i really knew about that before purchase, but it gets around 3 hrs
