Toshiba Libretto U100

Though the Libretto U100 has the enviable combination of a small size and a powerful processor, in the final analysis, it's just too diminutive for many to use.

Toshiba Libretto U100 review

Little big book

Smaller and lighter than almost any other notebook; wide, high-resolution display; fingerprint reader; nearly five hours of battery power.

Tiny keyboard and screen; weak audio; limited to 1GB of RAM; no Gigabit Ethernet; three-year warranty costs extra; no S-Video port.

Though the Toshiba Libretto U100 has the enviable combination of a small size and a powerful processor, in the final analysis, it's just too diminutive for many to use.

Toshiba Libretto U100

The Libretto's screen is by far the biggest in this crop of miniature PCs. It sports a 7.2-inch widescreen with Toshiba's TruBrite technology. It looks just as nice as the Sony U750P's XBrite screen. Its high resolution (1280-by-768) is great for DVD...

Fingerprint reader. Excellent battery life. 60GB hard drive. Great little widescreen

Poor placement of the pointing stick. Small keyboard

It looks like nothing more than a clamshell PDA, but inside you'll find a fully functional Microsoft Windows XP operating system, a fingerprint reader, and a 60GB hard drive.

Toshiba Libretto U100 Review (pics, specs)

Unlike most of the incredibly-advanced-Far-Eastern-technology-that-we-will-never-see-over-here (IAFETTWWNSOH), Toshiba is bringing its latest Lilliputian Libretto, the U100, to America. The Libretto ultra portable notebook line has been marketed in...

The New Recommendation: The Yulong U100 USB DAC

I find far more pluses than I do minuses. So, if you can handle the extra $60, and you don't need the extra functions on the Audinst, then the Yulong U100 is the box you should get for your headphones. Gears used for review: Headphones: Sennheiser...

All pluses and minuses considered, I think I find far more pluses than I do minuses. So, if you can handle the extra $60, and you don’t need the extra functions on the Audinst, then the Yulong U100 is the box you should get for your headphones.

Is Toshiba's U100-S213 The Ultra Lightweight Laptop Champ?

Toshiba's Libretto U100-S213 is the smallest and lightest ultra lightweight laptop we've ever tested. That said some questions must be raised about the impact of smallness on usability. To answer these questions, we compare the U100 with three other...

Toshiba Libretto U100 Review

Even with its detachable DVD dock, it's smaller and lighter than almost every notebook on the market, Performance, input/output connections, and battery life are all better than you'd expect

High-resolution screen means horrible eyestrain; keyboard sized for fingertip tapping, not typing

It's not the longest-lived of the subnotebooks we've sampled, but the Libretto's lithium-ion battery pack provides nearly-transcontinental-flight stamina: Dividing our time more or less evenly between DVD or CD use and undocked, low-voltage word...

X-bit labs - Toshiba Libretto U100-S213 Review: Size Does Matter

If your priorities are compactness, low weight, long battery life and high performance you should definitely take a look at a great compact solution from Toshiba. This notebook will be most useful on trips, or can be easily turned into a compact...

Putting it briefly, the Toshiba Libretto U100-S213 is a good compromise between compactness and functionality. It is not free from typical drawbacks of super-compact notebooks like small keys on the keyboard, a small screen with a big resolution, and a...
