Toshiba Mini NB205 review: Toshiba Mini NB205

Toshiba Mini NB205

Large touch pad, great battery life.

Bulky battery sticks out awkwardly; wimpy audio.

Toshiba's basic Netbook doesn't break any new ground, but offers better battery life and a faster CPU than many in the same price range.

Toshiba mini NB205-N210

The Toshiba mini NB205-N210 takes care of all the netbook necessities and places its focus primarily on price.

Price is very aggressive. Big touchpad and mouse buttons. Very good battery life. USB port has its Sleep-N-Charge technology. Comfortable-enough keyboard.

Control, Alt, and Fn keys are very tiny. Battery sticks out awkwardly.

Review: Toshiba Mini NB205 Netbook

Toshiba is late to the netbook game, and with its 10.1-inch Mini NB205, the company overcompensates and complicates things a bit too much. But it...

Epically long battery provides hours of entertainment. Surprisingly lightweight (2.9 pounds) despite bodacious battery. Roomy trackpad accommodates normal hands. Hard-drive impact sensor safeguards data from everyday bump and grind

Awkward keyboard makes you feel like a n00b typist. Lame screen hinge detracts from the netbook’s otherwise good looks. Setup puts you through an irritating game of 20 questions

Toshiba NB205-310

Toshiba may be new to netbooks, but the company is no stranger to small. Toshiba's NB205-N310 ($400) jumps into the market and claims a top spot in our rankings. This primo portable not only delivers where it counts with the longest battery life to...

Great oversized touchpad with good keys ; Amazing battery life

Screen picks up a little glare

But considering all the features packed into the N310--and how well it performs in a pinch--this is an easy-to-recommend netbook that's perfect whether you are a budget-minded businessman or you just need a flexible minimachine for a long day of...

Toshiba mini NB205

Despite all the lookalikes, Toshiba found a way to outdo its rivals in the netbook category with the fantastic and environmentally friendly NB205.

Full-size keyboard. Outstanding touchpad and mouse buttons. Well designed. Big battery with impressively long life. Sleep-and-Charge USB ports. Reasonably priced. Earned our GreenTech Approved award

Toshiba mini NB205 Review

Build quality was less than impressive despite the attractive exterior of the NB205. The thin plastics used in the construction of the chassis are prone to flex and the plastics make annoying "creaking" noises if you squeeze the netbook between your...

Easy access for upgrades ; Large touchpad ; Good battery life

Weak plastic construction ; Severe keyboard flex ; Unimpressive speakers

Still, despite these nice features, it's hard to overlook the flex and sound of weak plastics, the extremely flexible keyboard, and the weak speakers. Most netbooks have surprisingly firm keyboards, so we're more than a little disappointed that the...

Toshiba NB205

Toshiba waited a long time to enter the netbook market, but as the NB205 proves, taking some time to learn from your competitors can be a good thing. The NB205 offers everything we expect from a netbook, as well as some unexpected bonus features, and...

Excellent battery life; good looks; good performance; competitive price; Sleep-and-Charge USB

Totally unnecessary use of TORX screws; slightly odd keyboard

With a lap weight of two pounds, 15 ounces, the NB205 is firmly in the middle of the netbook weight class. Its price, battery life, aesthetics, and performance put it near the top of the current generation, and we appreciate perks like...

Toshiba Mini NB205-N330 review

The Toshiba Mini NB205-N330 is an interesting machine. It has an excellent, if somewhat quirky keyboard and the best touchpad I’ve used that doesn’t support multitouch gestures. It gets decent battery life, although the battery doesn’t appear to last...
