Toshiba Portege R200-S234 Laptop

Go superportable with the light but pricey Toshiba Portégé R200-S234, a svelte laptop that measures less than inch thick and weighs 2.8 pounds, but costs $2414. This unit has long battery life going for it: The R200 lasted 4 hours and 38 minutes on one...

Lightweight, with a great keyboard

Omits a built-in optical drive

Most of the documentation is relegated to an Acrobat guide preinstalled on the hard drive. However, it's thorough and liberally linked for easy searching. Finally, the R200 comes with the basic Microsoft Works 8 bundle of applications

Toshiba Portege R200

A CNET editor hit the nail on the head when she described the ultraportable Toshiba Portege R200 as a "thing of beauty." The remarkably thin Portege R200 will allow business travelers to move through airports on the quick, unless strangers stop them to...

Striking appearance; exceptionally light case; long battery life; copious security features; wireless on/off switch.

Pricey; flimsy mouse buttons; media-card reader accepts only one format.

Though it's a tad expensive, the Toshiba Portege R200 is a well-designed ultraportable with enough speed and battery life for business travelers.

Toshiba Portege R200

Toshiba steps up security, implementing its EasyGuard suite on the R200. Similar to IBM's ThinkVantage suite, EasyGuard offers the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) hardware security chip. Though they work similarly, IBM's solution is a little bit easier...

Supersleek and light design. Improved battery life. New security suite. Fingerprint reader

External optical drive

The Toshiba Portégé R200 lightens your load while letting you stay immensely productive on the road. If you travel often and need to keep up with work back at the office, you'd be remiss not to check out this system. And you'd be toting the sleekest...

Toshiba Portege R200 review

A big name in the laptop world producess a small sized model

Good battery life ; Sturdy build

Limited processor power ; Slow hard drive speed

A stunningly slim laptop that is ideal as a second machine for any mobile traveller

Toshiba Portege R200 notebook

For a long time, Toshiba was the businessman's number one choice of laptop, which resulted in the company sitting complacently on its laurels. However, with the notebook market not being aggressively fought over, the company has had to bring innovation...

Slim, light, good battery

No optical drive

While not the most powerful of machines, the R200 is a great looking and portable notebook. We managed to get four hours of life from the battery but this was using the machine simply for writing and editing copy - including this review.

Toshiba Portégé R200

There is no manufacturer that can match Toshiba for its length of service to the notebook industry. With 20 years under its belt, the company has helped establish the market. For the main part, that market has been in supplying business travellers. So...

Fingerprint reader, super slim, battery life

Poor graphics, expensive

The Portégé R200 may not be as fast as other ultaportables on the market but with a weight as light as 1.3kg, there are always compromises to be made. That said, with reasonable performance and a battery life that is more than impressive, it’s hard to...

Outstandingly engineered. A slightly less ergonomic but lighter alternative to the X41.
