Toshiba Satellite A205-6808 review: Toshiba Satellite A205-6808

Toshiba Satellite A205-6808

Inexpensive; decent performance; large hard drive; rounded, shiny case; attractive display.

Subpar battery life; heavily branded case; keyboard flexes; saddled with a now-archaic HD DVD drive.

The Toshiba Satellite A205-S6808's greatest feature is its rock-bottom price--not exciting, but certainly adequate for home and student use.

Satellite A205-S4639

The Toshiba Satellite A205-S4639 lacks the wow factor, and It doesn't have a mobile-broadband card or even Bluetooth. But it can handle most applications, looks good, and has two hard drives--one with a capacity of 160GB and the other 120GB. If you...

Lots of storage Interesting case design

Poor battery life

The A205 turned in pretty good speed numbers: Equipped with a 1.73-GHz Core 2 Duo T5300 processor and 2GB of RAM, it earned a WorldBench 6 Beta 2 score of 67, putting it in the top 25 percent of currently tested laptops. But its 128MB nVidia GeForce Go...

Toshiba Satellite A205-S4617

The Toshiba Satellite A205-S4617 laptop has 802.11n support, Harman Kardon speakers, and a Labelflash optical drive; a long, single hinge gives the laptop a sturdy feel.

Fingerprint-prone lid; no Bluetooth.

Toshiba adds faster Draft N Wi-Fi to this attractive if otherwise fairly conventional laptop. Just be sure you've got an 802.11n router to go along with it.

SlashGear Review – Toshiba Satellite A205

You'll remember that I had the pleasure of testing out Toshiba's 17-inch behemoth laptop not too long ago. While its large screen was certainly great looking and gave you plenty of desktop space, it wasn't the lightest, or most powerful machine....

My only two complaints are with the battery and the fingerprint reader. On average, I only got around 2 hours of life out of the laptop, which really isn’t enough for someone that takes their laptop almost everywhere. Also, the fingerprint reader...

Toshiba Satellite A205 Review

The A205 laptop appears to be primarily targeted to students and home users, rather than business users. While it does have some security features business users have enjoyed like fingerprint readers coupled with security login software, the flashy...

Nice bright screen with good color reproduction ; Very large 250gb storage ; Quiet CPU fan ; Nice sleek design

Computer gets quite warm, might not be comfortable on bare legs ; 2nd HD bay with no connectors ; Some bulky included software

Besides the included Microsoft software, I can't really think of anything else I would want to keep installed on this system. I enjoy a nice clean system to build off of, and prepackaged virus software, manufacturer software, and all that extra stuff...

Although hampered by poor battery life, the Toshiba Satellite A205-S4639 is 15.4in laptop that offers pretty good performance and great sound.

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Purchased similar couple months ago

Bought from other than Newegg, but had this deal been available back then, would have gone for it.

Purchased similarly specced machine a couple months ago. Only difference smaller HD (160GB). Excellent machine. Plays well w/Vista. Fairly fast on a UMA 150 USB aircard. Good screen view. Overall serviceable device.

Only 2 USB ports and they're too close together on left side upfront, making USB hub for aircard and wireless mouse receiver neccessary.

Consumer review (newegg.com)

It has firewire...

Please read your manual before blaming Newegg for the laptop not having something listed. It may actually have it, and all you need is a 4-pin to 6-pin firewire cable..

This is just to offset the person that said it does not have firewire.. If you look at the pictures it clearly has a 4 pin IEEE-1394 (firewire) port in the front corner under the card slot. I even went to Toshiba's site and looked at the manual for...

I don't own one yet, but hate incorrect info...
