Toshiba Satellite M305 Review

The M305 certainly has a lot to offer folks who are looking for a semi-portable notebook.

Toshiba Satellite M505-S4020

Take a standard, zippy laptop, slather on a thick layer of gloss--almost literally--and you've got the $999 Toshiba Satellite M505-S4020. This midrange portable smoothly handles Microsoft Office, online tools, media playback, and other general-purpose...

Competant speed powers any day-to-day applications ; Full audio expertly reproduces music and movies

Short battery life keeps you tied to an outlet ; Trackpad and keyboard disappoint

Don't be fooled by the glossy features and finish. While it's fast enough for typical business applications, this Satellite cuts corners.

Toshiba Satellite M305-S4835

The versatile Toshiba Satellite M305-S4835 has both portable and desktop-replacement features in its DNA.

Sleep-and-charge USB ports. Excellent battery life—longer than the competition's. 4GB of memory.

Very thick laptop. HDMI-out would've sweetened the pot. Pricey for the components included. No broadband support. Integrated graphics.

Toshiba Satellite M305-S4826 review: Toshiba Satellite M305-S4826

Toshiba Satellite M305-S4826

Stylish new design; charges USB devices, even when off.

Glossy finish attracts fingerprints; way too much bloatware; Sleep-and-Charge feature is turned off by default.

Toshiba's new Satellites, including the 14-inch M305, offer a reasonable mix of performance and price, but are weighed down by excessive out-of-the-box advertising links.

Toshiba Satellite M305-S4826 Notebook Review

Toshiba's Satellite range went through a shake-up back in April, arguably in an attempt to bring some of the multimedia Qosmio gloss to its more bread & butter machines. Out went drab casings and middle of the road specs, replaced with a stylish new...

Toshiba Satellite M305 Review

We've put several of Toshiba's latest mid-level, high-gloss Satellite notebooks through their paces around here in the past few months, and the 14.1-inch Toshiba Satellite M305 is the latest model in this familiar lineup of devices to come up for...

Solid construction and seemingly unscratchable Fusion Finish ; Excellent, vivid screen that's glossy without glare ; Glossy keyboard with nice, smooth action ; Better-than-average audio performance

Runs a little hot all around ; Copious glossy plastics look and feel cheap to some ; No dedicated graphics option

The Fusion Finish remains controversial, but while I'm still not keen on the looks (and can't stand its tendency to come away covered in smudges seemingly from a single touch), there's no question in my mind about the finish's durability or...

Toshiba Satellite M505

Solid build, lots of ports, and good audio., Pro: Solid build, lots of ports, and good audio

Thick notebook, battery life isn’t stellar., Con: Keyboard is a bit slippery, notebook is quite thick and the battery life isn’t stellar

The new Intel Core i3 and Core i5 CPUs and Windows 7 certainly breathes new life into the long-running Satellite line. Although the M500 weighs over 5 pounds and is quite thick, the new Fusion cover and chrome-on-black design give the notebook a new...
