Toshiba Satellite P745-S4320

The Toshiba Satellite P745-S4320 has all the right features to suggest it's a great mainstream laptop.

Blu-ray player. Big 640GB hard drive. USB 3.0. WiMAX and WiDi 2.0 wireless features onboard. No bloatware.

Stiff mouse buttons. Battery life could have been better. Design may turn some users off.

Toshiba Satellite P745

The affordable ; has better-than-average hard-drive space and RAM for its price, and decent graphics performance thanks to the AMD A6 processor. High-quality Harman Kardon speakers and USB 3.0/Bluetooth are also included.

The AMD A6 APU is slower than an Intel Core i5 processor at most tasks; battery life is poor.

The budget-priced Toshiba Satellite P745D-S4240 will save you some money thanks to its AMD A6 processor, with a dip in speed in exchange for some better-than-average graphics.

Looking for an everyday laptop that can also play Blu-rays? The Toshiba Satellite P745-S4217 might be it.

Includes Blu-ray drive, USB 3.0 port.

Performance, battery life not top-tier.

Consumer conscious. Toshiba's latest laptop touts solid multimedia-friendly features and specifications backed by a Core i5-2410M CPU, but cost-cutting doesn't do the Satellite any favors.

Great speaker performance, Fast benchmarking performance, USB 3.0 support, harmon/kardon speakers

Plastic chassis, Low quality approach on webcam, Bluetooth, etc., High price tag compared to competitors, Paying for a plastic chassis at metal case prices

Overall, a pretty decent laptop.

Finding a laptop with a screen smaller than 15.6" can be rather difficult. For the past three years I've used a 12.1" laptop, and prefer the smaller size. The 14" screen strikes a good balance between compactness and usability. It still easily fits...

While the touch pad is fairly typical and I don't have any particular complaints, I don't particularly care for the physical buttons. They feel stiff and don't have the nice click to them of my previous computer ; The volume buttons are capacitive...

I use this laptop for everything...

I recently purchased a Toshiba P745 satellite and I use it for everything from presentations for work to watching movies at home... Its default software pretty much covered everything with the exception of some word-processing software that I installed...
