Toshiba Satellite U505-S2010 Review

A solid chassis, comfortable keyboard and powerful processor all recommend the U505 series – just stay away from the touch screen models.

Toshiba Satellite U505-S2980

The Toshiba U505-S2980's main gimmick is a multitouch touchscreen. Outside of that, it is, for the most part, a decent laptop, even above average in many ways. But that one gimmick is the root of my issues with this 13-inch notebook--and helps raise...

Great multi-touch mouse ; Solid build quality

Dim screen ; Overly-glossy keyboard is uncomfortable

Toshiba's U505-S2980 is a solid, attractive performer--but the multitouch screen causes some problems.

Toshiba Satellite U505-S2970 review: Toshiba Satellite U505-S2970

Toshiba Satellite U505-S2970

Rugged and well built; textured plastic is a pleasing departure from glossy surfaces found on majority of laptops; slot-loading DVD drive.

A bit portly for a thin-and-light; keyboard feels flimsy; touch pad is overly sensitive.

The Toshiba Satellite U505-S2870 is rather tank-like for a 13.3-inch thin-and-light. We'd be more willing to tote it around if its heavy-armor feel extended to the flimsy keyboard.

Toshiba Satellite U505-S2940

Toshiba's latest addition to the Satellite laptop line, the U505 S2940, isn't just a good-looking notebook, it also has some excellent design features that will please anyone needing a portable for general computing and entertainment. Coming in under...

Excellent keyboard and function buttons ; Good battery life

Bulky battery sticks out from main body

A solid choice for general computing and entertainment if you don't need the slimmest (or lightest) travel mate.

Toshiba Satellite U505-S2930

The Toshiba Satellite U505-S2930 is stylish and feature packed for those who are heading back to school.

Trendy design. Inexpensive. Wide array of features. Excellent keyboard and navigating experience.

Battery life can use some pick-me-up. Thicker than its rivals.

Review: Toshiba U505-S2930 Laptop

A behemoth for a "thin and light" notebook, Toshiba's U505 is an enormous eyesore. But it does make for its bulk with fleet-footed performance.

Backlit keyboard and slot-loading DVD are impressive on a sub-,000 notebook. Decent value for the performance. Great battery life

One of the ugliest laptops we’ve seen in recent memory. Unwieldy and badly balanced. Keyboard offers minimal travel

Toshiba Satellite U505 review: Toshiba Satellite U505

Toshiba Satellite U505

Attractive look; loud speakers; long battery life.

Uncomfortable keyboard; more expensive than comparable laptops.

The stylish design and high-end feel of the Toshiba U505-S2940 don't make up for mediocre ergonomics and performance that can be had for less in other laptops.

Toshiba Satellite U505 Review

Build quality is nice when compared to low-cost netbooks, but doesn't measure up similarly priced notebooks like the Apple MacBook Pro and Dell Studio XPS 13. Although most laptop manufacturers have started to transition their notebooks over to...

Solid performance ; Nice backlit keyboard ; Good speakers for its size

Thick and heavy compared to newest 13-inch notebooks ; Small touchpad ; Expensive as configured

Unfortunately, Toshiba might have shot themselves in the foot when it comes to the price of their higher-end configurations. I have a hard time believing that most students would be interesting in buying this Toshiba for the full retail price of more...

Plenty of storage space and the inclusion of the 802.11n means the Toshiba Satellite U505-S2930 is future proof enough to last you a few years. The 13.3inch widescreen doesn't give you the largest viewing experience around, so providing you are using...
