Viliv S5 Premium Ultra-mobile PC

In search of a handheld that bridges the gap between netbook and iPhone? The Viliv S5 Premium strives mightily to straddle that divide--and it does so with some success--but some drawbacks (including an awkward software keyboard) will probably preclude...

Fast Win XP device with 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth ; Battery life seems decent

Software keyboard can be awkward ; Skimpy documentation, 3G performance spotty

As UMPCs go, the Viliv S5 delivers on many of its promises, although the disappointing 3G performance will deter some people and the software keyboard makes it a poor choice for anyone who frequently wrangles Office documents. But for $599, you can get...

Viliv S5 Premium

The S5 placed a pointing stick (left of the screen) and physical left and right mouse buttons (above the keyboard button) in their proper orientations, so the navigating experience was very pleasant. One thing, though: I had to adjust the cursor's...

Fits nicely into a large pocket. Featherweight PC. Good battery life

Processor not running full speed. Wireless throughput is slow. Choked during 720p HD playback. Haptic keyboard needs predictive text. Resolution too high for text on a 4.8-inch screen. Too expensive for stripped down netbook. Lacks a physical keyboard

The Viliv S5 Premium is a pocket-sized MID with a touch-only interface and a full blown operating system, but the price is real deal-breaker here.

Viliv S5 Review

Today is the day millions have been waiting for- the day the iPad is released. Some of us however don't quite buy into a $500 device that can't even do simple things like play back Xvid video files, support Flash and Java, use standard USB accessories,...

It's hard to directly compare the S5 to any other media player because it's a fully capable PC. It comes closest to the Archos 5 Android in size and features, though it costs twice as much. For the price though you do get a much better device overall...

Viliv S5 MID - Real Pocket PC!

Here we were thinking that MIDs aren't going to materialize thanks to smarter phones, great pocket media players and portable netbooks. Imagine to our surprise when the Viliv S5 Real Pocket PC showed up at our doorstep that's small in size, yet packing...

Viliv S5 Lightning Review (Netbook, Meet MID)

The gadget: Viliv S5, a computer that fits in your palm, packing all the Atom processor power of the latest netbooks along with GPS.

The system doesn't actually run XP faster than any Atom-based, but to see installation bars and downloads move so quickly on such a tiny device is always a bit of a mindfrak

Review: Viliv S5 Premium

One of the most highly anticipated MIDs/UMPCs to be released this year is the Viliv S5 Premium, a compact Atom-based device that packs a 60GB hard drive, 4.8-inch haptic touchscreen (1024 x 600), WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS into a truly pocketable unit...

Mobile computing is about personal choice. We all have different wants and needs, so no single device can satisfy us all; a dealbreaker for one person could have no affect on a purchasing decision for another.

Viliv S5 MID - HardwareZone.com

Viliv's S5 MID picks up from where the netbooks left off, ultra portability in its small form factor yet still usable for most folks.
